I've had this for over a year now. I stream mostly everything off my NAS. Plays just about everything. Some minor issues with subtitles.

I'd say if you want something for services like Amazon, netflix, etc..get a Roku...this is primarily for streaming local content off server or nas

I've had two of these for ~5 months and they work fairly well. I use them for Netflix, Hulu Plus, and the stream movies stored on my computer (both on the same wireless network).
It sometimes has issues connecting to network shares (get used to rescanning a lot). Also, Hulu Plus frequently freezes up, even requiring a hard reset fairly often. We got them to replace Rokus which were glitchy and gave us a lot of trouble. |

edit: i ask, because a pentium g should have no problem playing a 1080p rip. but where i could predict issues is if you are trying to stream a full mkv rip to roku over wireless. which is quite frankly silly to do since roku will require it to downgrade it down to h264. I have owned a WDTV Live Plus for quite some time now, it's the older model with the crappy remote. I love how it plays everything.
I've been interested in replacing it. I'm curious if anyone knows what the best devices like this are around $100 these days. Should I buy a newer WDTV, or another brand? |
