It appears they removed component connections on this model, i have the older wdtv live which has component, composite and hdmi, this just has hdmi and composite. Probably not a big set back for most, but i have mine hooked up to my older projector which only has component and composite.

this unit is very good, plays everything i've thrown at it, don't have any issues with lockups, connected to my NAS via wired, brilliant!

got a wd tv live hub a few weeks ago, $130 from bestbuy - sweet deal this unit is also brilliant, great work WD

i believe the "av port" is now a combined composite and component port. i think it comes with a component cable, but don't quote me.

Isn't there Western Digital play newer? Once you have a coupon it'll be basically the same price and that's for a new unit.

That is correct as far I understand it. The mini phone jack outputs only composite via an RCA pin dongle/cable which is supplied with new retail boxed units.

That's more of a Microsoft problem. Windows Media Player is the media server and WMP don't like WMV's.

Install Serviio and it should play em.

My old Samsung C650 plays just about everything but FLV and ISO's.

I ordered the WD TV Live about 10 minutes after it was posted on Slickdeals, and I got a shipment notification email yesterday. They haven't actually shipped it yet, but I do have a tracking number.
My last order took a week after I got that shipment notification email to actually leave their warehouse.
