Just because something is $XX off doesnt make it a good deal. Like pointed out above the sales for this system have been horrible and there will be better 'deals' to come on it.

This is a great deal.

They are selling around what the Gamecube sold and had a post launch drought. The worst is behind the system. They didn't release games for it in Jan and Feb and sales reflected that.
They had some good releases in March and now the system looks like it is getting some games and things are picking up for it.

By the time Christmas comes around it will have built up a nice library of games already.

Nintendo botched the launch like they did with the 3DS but look how many awesome games are coming out for that even though it had a slow start too.

It is not going to $199 by summer.

you might as well say wait 2-3yrs until it's $149, or 4-5yrs and its $99. or 6-7yrs and its $99 with a game.

$250 is a good deal for it right now.

There are no must-have games for the WiiU system now. By the time there ARE this will have a price drop. I'm expecting it around E3 time.

Thanks for bringing up the 3DS. The monthly WiiU sales are WORSE than the 3DS launch before they dropped the price on the 3DS and gave away stuff to stimulate sales. They'll do the same for the WiiU - summer-ish, or maybe as early as E3.

they are right, no reason to buy today. it will just collect dust as there is nothing to do on it.

i predicted last year that this will be in the hp touchpad aisle by christmas 2013. looks like it's ahead of schedule.

I don't see anything wrong with the releases. I kind of felt that Nintendo was trying to get players to buy into some of the game titles by making them the only choices available.

I have been playing Black Ops II and just picked up NFS. I am totally loving the Wii U because maps/items are on the gamepad screen and I can continue my gaming on the gamepad when the ballgame starts. I also like how I can plug a headset into the gamepad.

I have yet to use any of the additional features: web browsing, TV remote, and video chat. Most likely added fluff.

All this coming from a PS3 owner with a couple hundred games...........how did my wii U take over?

Launches are notoriously slow. Nintendo made a big mistake and didn't have software scheduled to come out in Jan or Feb for the system. It has actually had some really good releases lately (in March) and has some great games on the way.

It was weird because after a few months of not releasing games they released 3 really good games on the same day (instead of spacing them out)

(Walking Dead came out on the same day but supposedly that its only mediocre)

Now is a good time to buy the systems because the drought is over. They will have some good releases every month from here on out.

The bottom line is, this is the best price we've ever seen for the Basic Set. There's no reason to thumbs this down, at the very worst, leave it alone and don't give a thumbs up. It's the best deal we've ever seen on this set up to this point (although Target and Meijer had similar deals, theirs involved getting back a $50 gift card instead of a flat $50 off).

The price is great considering where it had started and the fact that the console is very new. Unfortunately it's a stinking pile of doo-doo. I'm not going to TU or TD the post - I hope they've patched the console since December when I had one (returned it). I had a Wii since launch date that I sold back in December and ended up picking up a Wii U. The interface on the Wii U was noticeably slower than the Wii and would take longer to navigate the menu system. Games loaded slowly - once loaded seemed ok I guess except when loading new content/levels. I really think they should have spent more time and more resources on on the main system instead of focusing on the gimmicky tablet.

Current gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft are adding interaction with off the shelf tablets, phones and handheld consoles. They should have seen that an included tablet was not going to put them in a competitively superior position.

My friend bought one at launch and it is sitting there collecting dust. Their kids plays more with their iPads and 3DS than with this console.
