Wii U Basic $249 plus free shipping @ bestbuy.com

i waited outside a BB on launch day for 5 hours to get my hands on a deluxe. i've always supported nintendo and want them to succeed, but i found it hard to keep it since it was collecting dust and i wasn't using it. i returned it on the last day of returns for the holidays @ BB since there was nothing but regret every time i picked it up. i hated nintendo land and didn't like any of the release titles.

the dude behind the counter said they had several returns and had tons of stock in the back. i remember when the 360/ps3 came out there was no stock to be had for months back in cali.

i hope nintendo does something quick to salvage this sinking system cuz it's not worth more than $150-$200 at this point... and even then i'd have a hard time spending my money on it since the 360/ps3 do so much more. and now that the ps3 will interact with the silicondust prime network tv tuner card i have even less reason to purchase another system... especially this one i hate to say

Honestly, I was one of the idiots waiting on line for a Wii and now it's sitting collecting dust, even with a mod chip in it. I got a 3DS on launch day and got burned by the price drop (ooh, free games I've already owned/beaten on other systems). I'm waiting for a "must have" game to come out on the WiiU before I buy it. Right now, I don't see any coming out any time soon.

Nintendo goofed in the worst way. They desperately needed this system to entrench itself before the Sony and Microsoft hype machines started and in an age where consoles' popularity is waning from more casual means of gaming. The only thing that will save them is a drastic price drop and AAA titles in droves.

Yeah these things are hard to unload. I have a brand new wii u deluxe, never even opened that I posted on CL at 275 and I haven't gotten a single bite. Really surprised.

I have a Wii U. I'd recommend it for enthusiasts only and right now it's probably best to wait for a beter game to come out. Windwaker remake will be out later in the year as will Pikmin 3. Also by then Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U should be on sale.

I like the Miiverse feature and the TVii app is really cool. The social networking features are probably the best and most surprising aspect of the console.

Slow and steady wins the race. The Wii was solid if underpowered and far more reliable than the RROD 360s. Nintendo needs to market this better and also do more with third party developers.

This is a decent deal, definitely slick as its saving some coin. No console has really ever been 'must buy' as they all take time to grow. 250 for this is probably as good as it'll get for the next year or two.

I haven't researched any of the next gen consoles but I think you're right on about this. Adding the tablet made the system too expensive for the target market. Most of the target demo already own iPads, Kindles, etc. and don't need another tablet. Especially one that is tethered to the system itself.

The Wii U should of been something akin to the Apple TV. Inexpensive price point (perhaps even as low as $129) that would allow people to download games instead of being disc based. Maybe an SD slot for Zelda type games, but otherwise make it more or less a casual gamer system with media features like Hulu, Netflix, Pandora built in. They could of even sold an external DVD drive to make the system backwards compatible with existing Wii games.

I'm going to agree with both of you. It's too expensive for what it offers TODAY considering we probably all have a minimum of 6 handheld devices with screens within our reach when we're home.

I will, however, give this deal a thumbs up just because I would purchase it if I didn't already own a Wii and I want Nintendo to succeed.

Problem with this system is that there are no games that are must haves. So it wouldn't matter if it was $250 or $300.

Enjoying MH3U, and this will keep me occupy for a few months. Can't say that for other games. Also have a PS3 for stuff like GTA later on.

The problem with Nintendo was when they came out with the Wii was that the only thing that was revolutionary was the controller. Its graphics were a generation behind Xbox and PS3. Once Xbox and PS3 got their own version of a motion controller, it was game over for Nintendo.

I suspect another price drop by the holidays. I haven't had any interest for its launch games, but might pick one up by the end of year for Wind Waker... Though it has an alleged release date for December 31... Which in that case, Nintendo dropped the ball on this one.

While this is not a horrible deal if you're in the market for one, I would wait until later for future releases.
