Reading Amazon comments someone claims that white are the consumer models and black are only able to be purchased through cable companies - so any purchases of black not from cable company are likley used or something. (I merely assumed they were OEM but who knows). YMMV and take it with a grain of salt I guess.

Either way I also linked it to Amazon for price matching just in case. Just cuz I have Prime and returns and issues are handled with greater ease on Amazon than ebay or other locations (the extra 8 dollar premium if Amazon Matches is worth the piece of mind for me anyways!)

Comcast just doubled speeds in my area yesterday and I needed a new modem to get the full speed.

Add a cheap filler (I used this: Coax Cable [newegg.com])and use $10 off $100 code VALPAK10 to get it down to $70.98 AR. Or if you are a new customer, NEWCUSTOMER is $10 off $50 so you wouldn't need a filler and it would cost $65.99 AR.

Purchased a few weeks back on E-Bay from modems-modems. They were asking $87.75 but accepted an offer of $67. Unit was black and sealed both in a box and within plastic bag in the box. Comcast confirmed that the modem was brand new during their install.

Sweet! Thanks for the personal experience provided. Makes me less leery of the ebay purchase in this case nod

This is the exact same one, right? Just black instead of white? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Motor...4d0a159095

They are indeed the same, although the black one will come in a Motorola labelled cardboard box, and not the colorful retail box like you see on NewEgg.

Price is now $0.83 lower. laugh out loud

$75.17 AR.

Also, don't forget you can use the "NEWCUSTOMER" promo code to make it ~$65 AR. Wink

I have never tracked modem and router deals, but I do need them ASAP for Comcast Blast Internet. Are there better deals around?

Thanks!

I'm curious too.

Also, I'm on an old DOCSIS 2.0 modem that I bought some years back and my Comcast internet has been acting pretty flaky for a while now. I'm assuming it's because of the old modem being outdated. Does anyone know if that sound like a safe assumption?
