looks like that rebate expired and if i am not mistaken the current pricing around on this lens is much better becasue when that rebate was current the lens was like in a much higher price range.

On a canon thats 45mm-120mm. Which isnt very wide.

I shoot Pentax, but the crop factor is close enough. I use this lens a lot for social gatherings in larger rooms or smaller outdoor spaces and it works very well for me in these areas. Close up (faux macro) performance is pretty good too - good for food or decoration shots. It's a good lens that I use more than most of my zoom lenses...
