Got one! For a new dyson this is an awesome price.
My last dyson lasted 5 years before the hose ripped, literally the week after the 5 year warranty expired. It is still good for upright vacuuming though, so we are going to use it upstairs and this new one downstairs so we don't have to lug it up the stairs anymore. Maybe I can get a replacement hose. |

I had gasket issues with my Dyson animal, a week before the 5 year warranty was up. The guy on the phone sent me everything he possibly could related to my issue. New filter, and new collection container. Still going strong after 6 years. Best vacuum I've ever owned and was well worth the ~$500'ish price tag back then. |

I just purchased a used DC14 for $150 off craigslist...I'm in love. These things SUCK! For what they do (and they do it extremely well), they are fairly simple machines.
The guy I bought it from was some sort of vacuum freak, he had owned a $1500 Kirby and one of the ball-type Dysons, and he was selling his "extra" DC14, which he still continues to use. From what he told me, he was as pleased with the results of the Dyson as he was with his Kirby, and that he felt the DC14 cleaned as good or better than the ball vacuums, and that any maintenance/cleaning was more difficult with the balls due to the amount of parts it is built with. |

In my opinion the main difference between the DC33 and the ball type vacuums is that the front of the DC33 has a much higher profile than the ball vacuums. That makes it so the DC33 doesn't fit very well under kitchen cabinets, couches, or other low clearance objects when vacuuming parallel to them. You can still fit the front of the vacuum under those types of objects when vacuuming perpendicular. The ball vacuums have a lower profile and fit much better under low clearance objects. I don't really buy into utility of the ball vacuum being great for quickly navigating around corners because I don't plan to drag race with my vacuum, but I've never used one so maybe it is a great feature. The cord on the DC33 is 35' long which I love. The suction is great and all in all I think it is a solid vacuum for the money. |
