My son loves Sim City so couldn't wait for this to come out. Since getting it, he played some on day two and day three but since has basically ignored its existence. Couple that with the unknown (how long until they turn off servers and you're stuck with software you bought but can no longer play) and I'd avoid or at least wait. The game will probably be $20-ish in the next month if you still want to 'rent' it from EA.

For those that want it now, this is a good deal but remember, have to register ASAP as the free game deal ends a day later.

Have they turned Cheetah mode back on yet? I know it was disabled, and haven't heard anything about them turning it back on. I use Cheetah mode constantly in SimCity 4, so was just wondering.

Not that I know of. It wasn't working yet last time I checked, which was yesterday.

they have not. And the issues with the game is that they did not prepare the game properly for a multiplayer experiance. Most of the glitches they have are from the game not being able to handle many commands at the same time. This means you solo people who play just 1 city at a time or even multiple cities with small populations will not have issue.

However, If you fully attempt to build to maximun size. with fully working industry, specializations , or similar, you will encounter game breaking bugs that will make you hate the game.
One example is the cab glitch. If you have more than 100 cabs, they will not recieve orders and will drive around in circles until your streets are completly clogged up.
A similar glitch also extends to buses, fire trucks, and police. Since a single region will not reach the order cap, as you may call it, solo or small area players will not be affected. But if you build a city with 250 thousand people in a region of 16 people. You are going to have major issues since these bugs were not properly vetted during the closed beta test, where play time, as well as people were extremely limited.

So feel free to moan and groan over the incompetence of EA and Maxis.

Oh, you can use cheat engine to speed up the game. I've used it to achieve my own cheetah speed mode, Of cheetah speed on redbull mode. cause seriously.. staring at paint dry is not entertaining.

Eh, I was just curious. After all the drama around the new one, I have spent probably 10 hours between playing SimCity 4 Deluxe and Android SimCity on my Nook Tablet. SimCity 4 holds up really well IMO, and allows for a lot of the stuff that the new one doesn't if I've been reading correctly.

I want to get this so badly, but I cannot support the way it was released as such a terrible experience. Always online DRM is a plague that needs to be stomped out. The only way is for consumers to stop buying games with it altogether. I will wait for the always online stipulation to be removed officially by a patch and for the game to hit the bargain bin. Meantime, SimCity 4 will have to do.

Will wait until it's $5 like Diablo III was a few months after release.

Is this the normal edition or limited edition?

I just checked its actually the limited edition that is on sale not the regular edition

It's been a long time since I was interested in buying a PC game; I was ready to buy it until I read that it had to be online. For someone who's only downtime to play is during his commute or travel on a flight, the internet connection renders the game useless for me. Such a shame, as it was ready to fork money over.

Funny this thread is. I bought game on launch.had minor difficulty loging in first 3 days. Lost one city on the fourth day. Haven't had a single issue since. Great game if you love simcity . Kids these days are such whiners. They even gave you a free game to say sorry. Name a major launch that hasn't had issues.

As far as always on goes....what did you think was going to happen when punks steal games non stop by downloading them and cracking. For every action there is a reaction
