30" IPS Pro Monitor WQHD 2560x1600 DVI w/Adjustable stand [monoprice.com]

27" IPS LED CrystalPro Monitor WQHD 2560x1440 [monoprice.com]

3 models above, one has all inputs and the other is just a barebones DVI. 27inch is also in stock now!(Edit: OOS again =(

Insane price for a 30inch IPS, and the panel inside is from a "LOWER GRADE" Apple Cinema/HP/Dell. These are grade A-/A panels while Apple/Dell/HP All have A/A+ panels. Get them while they're hot as the 27 inch is already sold out.

Use coupon catalog12 to lower the price noted on the top.

It depends on what your definition of "pushing" is. A GTX660 TI averages like 40 fps in games like BF3 with highest settings and dips into the 20s at times.
I have two 570s in SLI and I think he is being way too optimistic. My rig still struggles with newer games like Crysis 3.

WTF are you on? All monitors are LCD (fairly sure there are no more CRTs or Plasma computer monitors). The older style used CCFLs and the new style uses LED for backlight.
There will never be a "true" led. There will be OLED monitors (organic LEDs), they already have prototypes (http://ces.cnet.com/1606-34451_1-50138534.html).

Uuummm... pretty sure what you linked is exactly what he was talking about.OLED is still LED.

Does anyone know if the price drop on the single input 27" is temporary? Or will that model possibly get a coupon code too?

Just got a few of these in the research lab where I work for a new microscope. Amazing screen resolution, easy setup. But beware of a few things: First, this only works with DVI-dual link cables. HDMI to DVI-D won't work, neither will non dual-link DVI cables so bear that in mind. Also, this screen is amazing but the plastic housing is incredibly cheap. There are several unused buttons along the bottom (clearly a generic case that was used) and the button on the bottom right front side of the TV that looks like a power button is NOT a power button. It is an unused button slot and if you press it like a power button, it will fall backwards into the case and require prying the case open to re-seat it. Doesn't affect functionality at all, just looks like crap. Looks like a good deal though.

I could really go for some 2560x1600 goodness... but I just got 2 Achieva Shimian 27" 2560x1440 displays like 6 months ago.... I can't make any excuse that would rationalize blowing that much money on more monitors :c
Sell The Old, and purchase the new...no excuse neededSmilie You might be able to get 100% back on your used monitorsSmilie

My 27" just came in - perfect panel. No dead pixels, no bleeding or luminosity abnormalities. What everyone else said about the stand and case being cheap is true - but the panel itself is perfect.

Use a better player or a program to strip the offending HDCP junk from the stream.

I could be mistaken, but I believe VLC player does this by default. And others have linked in solutions that are independent of the player. (The post is gone now... I wonder why? The link was for AnyDVD HD [slysoft.com].)

Sure it is commercial software, but does it break the rules to help people use the hardware they buy?

Can I get the full resolution through HDMI? I have an HP laptop with ivy bridge i7, nvidia 650m with 2gb vram, no dvi-d, just HDMI and rgb. I don't game, will use it for auto cad, adobe creative suite and web browsing and ms office.
No. Supposedly minidp with HD4000 + active adapter to DVI-D can handle it, but HDMI cannot, even HDMI 1.4, the signalling is different.

I bought one of these 2560x1600 30" about 5 years ago and it's still going strong. At this point, I think there is no point of paying the couple hundred more for a high end models.
If anyone doesn't have one of these 30" yet, get one of these and in 2 years or so, you can get the next technology one, probable an led. Cause if you get a high end one now and pay $1k+, you'll feel really bad when its time to upgrade in 2 years.

ps, having two 30" monitors is really too much, at first its cool, but after a couple months you end up using only 1 90% of the time. Its better to have a 30" and a 23" rotated 90 degrees next to it.

I'm not sure about that. I think the LEDs he was referring to was RGB LEDs which are available in very expensive commercial LCD panels. They provide very accurate colors, but use quite a bit of electricity.

As far as I know OLED has never been available commercially except on smaller screens like dvd players/ gaming devices. Also although you are correct linguistically that OLED is short for Organic LED, technically they are very different since OLEDs replace LCD technology which just use LEDs for backlighting.

There are some reports that it works on a mac if you use the $100 apple Apple mini-display -> dual link DVI adaptor.

Apparently the monoprice equivalent cable does not work with the macs on this monitor.

http://store.apple.com/us/product...vi-adapter

I'm still waiting for more reports before I drop it on my 2012 MacMini.
