have used Net10 for over a year, and we have one phone with time that is charged to my credit card, and one that we buy time cards for, just for emergencies. The problem is that the time stacked up on the phone we have to buy time cards for, and we have so much time on that phone now that we want to skip buying the time card for a couple of months, although we are forced to buy time once a month. Now we are told that no matter how much time we have on the phone we are buying time cards for, if we MISS buying ONE CARD, even if we have a tremendous amount of talk time piled up on that card, that Net10 just blocks us from using the time we have PAID for, and if we don’t buy another card in a month they just delete ALL THAT TIME that we PAID FOR. I am very upset over this, and it appears that Net10 has you in a trap where even if you paid for hundreds of dollars in time cards for your phone, and you don’t want to buy yet another card when you have so much time, they will just wipe out your time that you PAID FOR and you are out hundreds of dollars. And that when they are adding time on my other phone charging it to my credit card. My opinion is that it is not legal for them to just remove the time I have already paid for because I want to use some of that time before I buy yet more time, although I am letting them charge on my credit card for my other phone. I am open to suggestions as to how to deal with this situation while I am also open to considering another provider. The customer service was terrible, and I couldn’t even understand what they were saying half the time.

I highly recommend PagePlus Cellular. I have been a customer of theirs since 2008, and am pretty satisfied.

I do the standard plan, and refill about $10 every 120 days. Your minutes roll over if you renew before expiration. They charge a $0.50 monthly audit, but those are pretty much the only fees I ever encountered other than normal usage charges. If you prefer doing a year at a time their is a special $80/2000 minute card that covers a whole year without renewal (gotta find a dealer selling it though). Rates are between $0.10/min to as low as $0.04/min. Seriously, if you need a low usage phone its only $2.50/mo. Buying cards online thru Callingmart or prepaidonline.com, etc you can even score a discount on retail card pricing.

Icing on the cake is;
Coverage on the Native Verizon network, very large coverage for prepaid.
You can bring any old verizon phone and activate it on their service, even old android phones or almost anything with the exception of Iphones/Blackberries and phones that are "Verizon Prepaid Branded and Boxed phones"

This sounds really interesting. I've been wanting to find a phone plan you didn't have to recharge often for my mom, who would probably not use $10 in a year. So, since it's on the Verizon network, does that mean any unlocked cdma phone would work with Pageplus? And I wonder if my husband's cdma phone from Straight Talk (which uses Verizon) would work with Pageplus? His is a prepaid phone, don't know if it's unlocked, will have to check. But for my mom I could certainly try to find a cheap unlocked cdma if it would work.

In a quick search it appears some have gotten that to work, but it is very hit or miss. Seems like a lot of hoops were jumped thru by some to get it working. Might need to be flashed (kinda costly), etc. Probably best to get a friends old phone or get one off ebay.
