I didn't realize IX was ever released--I thought it was canceled--was supposedly to be on the Wii system 3-4 years back.

The character designs for FF8 really threw me off at first, but after several playthroughs I've changed my opinion--in terms of character development and story, it really was the best of the series. The intro was considered a masterpiece way back in 1998

Keep in mind that plenty of good games were released for the PS2 a good year or two after the PS3 came out. Plenty of people will still be in the market for PS3 games at that point. I sure don't plan on buying into the PS4 craze as soon as it starts.

Loved 7 hated 8 loved 9, believe it or not. Ff9 was limited by hardware on ps1. It really pushed the limits of the hardware on ps1 and that's why it's slowish fighting etc. people don't give ff9 credit where I believe it deserves, look at the graphics compared to the others. They explained in article long ago that they wanted real scenery and not texture pic but due to limitations etc.. What was done was done.


I think if they had waited for ps2 it would of Been another awesome title. I still love 9 and 10 the most though. Played 10 minutes of 13 and put it down. Waste of time to me, hated the battle system from get go.

yes the PS4 will be released by then which is why I don't get why sony couldn't just put this on the PS3 and PS4
If they did I would go ahead and buy it even though I hate that it is just minorly improved versions over the PS2 versions.

Another comment--forget these weak-game remasters. I want a Xenogears remaster... this time with a proper translation... and completion of the missing content (whole sections of Disc 2). None of that Xenosaga crap. As flawed as it is, Xenogears is still my favorite RPG of all time.

Yes hopefully on PS4 and not a weak re-mastered version on a PS3 system at the end of its life .

FF9 had it's own style--FF8 went realistic (to the extreme, for the time), while FF9 went cutesy (reminded me of the original FF1-3 look). I couldn't connect/relate with the FF9 weirdo characters. So many things just made no sense--anatomy was unrealistic--and how the heck did the Black Mages manage to spawn (ending), when they were artificial beings???? FF9 had good music, but FF8 had the best of the series in my opinion.

If I had to rank the best games in the series, I'd go FF8>FF7>FF9>FF10>FF6... etc, etc, etc.

Didn't realize it was possible to enjoy FFX to that extent. One playthrough was more than enough for me. If I had to watch/listen to Tidus and Wakka again, I'd put my fist through the screen.

For me, the ending of an RPG leaves the biggest lasting impression. FF8 and FF9 were equally good in my mind. I was very, very satisfied with both by the end. However, I'm still freaked out (to this day) by the FF9 ending. Those little Black Mage hellspawn--I don't know how they came into existence, but I found it chilling I still see Steiner in my nightmares

waiting for the vita version.... i have a ps3 but prefer playing cross platform games on the vita

I can't believe you didn't like the ending of 10...

I'm not saying I cried, but I'm also not saying that I didn't cry.
