i bought one of the momentus drives back in nov.. it crashed for no reason a month or two later. i don't recommend them. except taht they replaced it for free under warranty.

I have 3 momentus hybrid drive for my desktop & laptop as OS drive..the desktop is on 24/7 for about 6 months now no issues! & the other 2 on my laptop no problems either.
It's must be your OS cause the crash...

"An Enclosure for a" really should have been the first part of that.

No, first off you & he are talking about two different drives. You = momentus XT (hybrid NAND + Mechanical); He = Momentus (mechanical only). Second the Operation system cannot crash the drive. What he is saying is that his hard drive failed. That has nothing to do with the Operating system.

Also, all hard drives including yours will fail. There are a certain number of failures that happen right away, and others that last much longer...

Yeah, I've had a chance with the deals posted to read & look at the benchmarks. Unfortunately, while they did add a 1TB and they plan to add some desktop 3.5" drives overall its a disappointing release IMO. Performance wise it's level or a bit worse due to the 5400 RPM drives and they only marginally increased the NAND size and did it changing the type of NAND they used. The positives are bigger hard drive & much lower retail cost from the start. I was just hoping after two years to have a performance jump not status quo or a bit worse.

Hopefully WD will put some pressure on them with there eventual release & venture into the sector.
