I have had this compressor for 3 years now, it is awesome but very loud, can't use is past 7pm without pissing off the neighbors

Wow, I am supprised that it is so loud. Usually, an oil filled compressor is much quieter than an air cooled compressor. That is a deal breaker for me.
I also have this compressor. I like it, but is isn't quiet. When it runs in the garage, I can hear it in the house. This is a SD if you need a small compressor. Oil lubed is definitely a longer life compressor.

Need something to blow out the interior of my car. Will this do the job decently?
Maybe, but a shop vac exhaust would also work. Leaf blower would be cheaper option.

I was wondering the same thing. Also would like to use it to blow off excess water from my vehicle's engine bay after I power wash it.

better off using a leaf blower

Just picked up. Works decent cleaning out car - just have to turn the pressure down to give you more time before it has to refill.

Oddly, I can run mine in the hall bathroom w/the door shut and its not too bad. Probably the same noise level I guess. You are correct that an oil lubed compressor will last longer. I guess the upside for me is I have a Porter Cable 6gal. I've even used it on the job w/2 roof nailers to do a big roof job. The extra 3 gal's helped w/not having to kick in as often as a 3 gal.
The best deal would be an oil lubed compressor that had higher compression rating and was much quieter. They make them, but not at this price. Wink

Be very careful pressure washing under the hood. It's very easy to inject water into connectors and sensors and cause problems. Jeeps Cherokees are notorious for sucking up water into the throttle position sensor even hitting them with a hose.

The specs page lists this compressor at 82dB. According to a quick Google search (decibel comparison), that's roughly as loud as a garbage disposal, dishwasher, or vacuum cleaner. It's also BELOW a lawn mower, city traffic from inside car, electric drill, or crying baby.

That sounds like a very reasonable volume to me. If yours is louder, it would seem to indicate a problem.

I don't have a DB meter, but with a few tricks you can quiet down the compressor even more. Most of the noise comes from the intake adding some pipe helps cut down on it. I did it to mine and it is much quieter.

you can also adjust the PSI on this one. I set mine to go to 140 instead of 125.

Hi all, this is my first portable compressor and i really like it so far.
Noob question, whats the different between regulator pressure and tank pressure, what effect if i increase or decrease one another? thanks.

Tank pressure is how much pressure is in the tank, regulator pressure is the max pressure that can be output to whatever you plug in.

edit: sorry to confuse you but the max output you can adjust the reg. to is 150, regulator pressure is how much pressure is going out to the tool connected.

for example; if you have a nailer plugged in and your nails are going in too deep, just back off the pressure on the regulator and they wont go in as far. more pressure = more push to the nailer. pressure will also essentially adjust the speed of an air grinder or impact wrench.

My deal got sweeter. I bought it online for store pickup. I started to browse for other deals and noticed that the shelf price was on this compressor was on clearance with 50% off the price 99.99. Customer service said someone didn't do their job and should have taken off that shelf tag. They honored that clearance price. I got this item for $50+ tax. I tried to buy the last one but they said no. Lol.

i actually had to exchange mine because someone dropped it before i got it and it hit right on the head of one of the screws holding on the plastic guard. cracked the plastic and also the mount underneath that it mounts to. it probably would have been fine cuz it spun free but i didnt want to take the chance of it failing prematurely.

got it exchanged with no problems and the new one works fine, just a pain because i had to go back to the store to exchange. maybe i should check back sometime this week and see if they put it on clearance or open box or something, maybe get another really cheap or at least one for spare parts.
