Need something to blow out the interior of my car. Will this do the job decently?
I was wondering the same thing. Also would like to use it to blow off excess water from my vehicle's engine bay after I power wash it.

Thanks, I had been wondering about just that. I looked up a bunch of tools and didn't know whether they were quoting sustained rate or 'average joe' slower rate. The only tool I'd worry about would be using a paint gun - I'd like to be able to paint the outside of my house and that would probably be a sustained use. (And wow, those need big compressors. Some were quoted at 12cfm@40psi or 9cfm@90psi.) I guess for small (shop) projects this would probably still work, since I could use a detail painter at 3-4cfm@40psi?

My friend has a 3 gallon 4.2 @ 90 psi and he said it wasn't enough to do a good job with his sprinkler system.
With jobs that require a lot of VOLUME (sprinker/painting), you really need a large tank so there is plenty of reserve. You would never be able to paint a house well without a LOT of waiting with this 3 gallon compressor. The best is to buy a specific HVLP paint system (that has a piston motor to provide the pressure for paint spray). And not all HVLP paint systems are the same. i bought one that was too small for painting a house and it's frustrating. I borrowed my buddy's much larger HVLP and it could paint twice as fast as mine. I used mine to repaint some doors.

One last thing about noise. All compressors make noise. Belt driven ones typically have lower frequency noise while the direct drive/cheap units are very buzzy/high pitched in noise (annoys me a lot more).

"This is a 50% duty cycle air compressor. Do not run the air compressor more than 30 minutes of one hour. Doing so could damage the air compressor." What does that mean? It's from the owner's manual. I'm thinking about building a 10' x 12' storage shed and was wondering if this would help me minimize the hammer-to-nail approach.

I use a leaf blower with the nozzle removed, great for pre-drying the outside of the car as well. Occasionally Black and Decker, through eBay, will have their 18 volt battery version(refurbished) for $30.

Have owned this for 4 years. Always works well and no problems. Not a heavy user -- car tires, blow the dust out of the shop is about it. Don't do much maintenance on it, either.
Pretty much exact same here. This is a good unit and a great price.

It basically means for every minute of run time it needs a minute of rest and shouldn't run constantly. It should be fine to run one nail gun. It helps to check hoses for leaks and repair if necessary.

Got this compressor for Christmas. Works great, definitely quieter than the oil-less compressors I've used. Whether it's quiet enough to use late at night probably depends on how close you live to your neighbors.
