Is this unit WiFi ready and does it have built-in Wifi or does it come with the adapter?

It has an ethernet port. Wireless adapter is $149 from Pioneer, but a wireless gaming adapter from Linksys, Netgear, or DLINK will do the same thing for much cheaper.

Got one on Friday at the Davie Costco in South Florida. They got 16 the same day.
It sounds better that the Elite VSX-53 (will sound even better after calibration...) that I returned to BB but to my surprise runs much hotter, aren't D3 digital amps should run cooler?!
I think it is the best sounding receiver that I tried (HK AVR1700, Marantz 1603, Pioneer Elite VSX-53).
My friend has the the SC-65 and it is identical (including the aluminum front panel).
Overall an incredible deal!

Thank you. Any adapter will work? What do you look for when you want to buy an adapter for this unit?

^Will work, any WiFi adapter that is ethernet<->wifi. The devices simply avoid the necessity to install drivers, and just work off ethernet opposed to usb etc.

Its a shame that a receiver this expensive doesn't have a WiFi adapter built in.

Is it worth to upgrade from Denon AVR-2312ci and Yamaha RX-720?

OK, very quick initial impressions, upgrading from a Yamaha RX-A1000.

Pros:
Sound is strong. Real strong, stronger than the Yamaha, with heavy bass.

Airplay is neat.

Receiver unit display is nice, nicer than the Yamaha,

iPod/iPad/iPhone charging from the unit is nice.

Tons of sound and video options, definitely more than the Yamaha.

Backlit remote (nuclear reddish-orange, but still a plus).

Changing options like speaker size, login information, etc. seems to be slightly easier than on the Yamaha.

On screen volume display is small and unobtrusive, and can be turned off, unlike on the Yamaha.
iPad app and interactive AV Navigator manual/assistant are better than Yamaha's.

Firmware updates are easier than on the Yamaha.

Cons:

The labeling of the HDMI ports is WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD. BD comes after Port 1 on the back, but is really Port 8? Port 5 is the front port? Of course you can change the names, but this still freaked me out a bit.

No direct control of the unit from the web app. (AV Navigator gives some limited control.) Yamaha not only lets you have direct control from its app, its Receiver Manager software lets you control virtually everything from a PC app.

One year warranty, compared to the Yamaha's three for the Aventage units. (This unit will be out of warranty before my Aventage, and I've already had that unit for a year and a half.)

It's easier to navigate into different sections/controls from Yamaha's GUI. Also, Yamaha's GUI is an overlay, allowing you to continue watching/listening to video/audio while changing settings. The Pioneer cuts off the picture and sound when you go into the settings. Both interfaces look like they were designed in the early 90s, but I'd say Pioneer's looks slightly more modern. Yamaha offers some neat wallpapers though, to spruce things up, while the Pioneer doesn't have anything like that.

The standby light is about 4x the size of the Yamaha's. It looks like a laser pointer on a gun.

Overall, I'm enjoying the receiver, but I'm not sure if it was worth the upgrade yet. I am liking the new features, especially Airplay.

Thanks for the insight on your experiences with the other receivers. I really wanted a low profile model, but at this price point along with your endorsement that it sounds better than the Marantz 1603, I'll have to sacrifice size for quality...laugh out loud

Came back from a weekend out of town to finally find Sandy UT with some in stock. Grabbed one and am really excited to replace my 2006ish Elite 54TX. No HDMI switching has been killing me for years.

For those in IL the Naperville location said they will have them in stock by the weekend. None of the other stores in northern IL said they ordered them yet.

When I bought mine at Mettawa they still had at least 8 left (on Saturday)

I called the Cypress, CA store and they had 3 plus store display at 3PM. I reserved one and picked it up at 7PM and was told they only have the display now. Now I need some speakers. None at the Garden Grove store.
