Great deal, trying to decide myself whether to upgrade from my Denon 3311CI. $660 after tax (CA) is still quite a bit of change considering all the BB/Magnolia deals that have been going on.
seriously, show us two deals right now that BB has that compares or beats this deal shake head

They have been recent, past 2 months, you can look it up. As always YMMV.

I was contemplating a SC-68. Any audiophiles here to say what you gain with a SC elite over this one look around
better amp section and a longer warranty

this is probably more comparable to an Elite SC65

BB( Magnolia Home Theater) has a similar Elite model on sale right now for $499
They also have the SC67 for $999

Save for the updated features that this adds, 9.2, networking, etc etc..., anyone who has this can comment on the sound, is it just great for home theater or is it musical? I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-56txi from back in the day and it has been a great around all performer. How is the sound and build quality of the new Pioneers?
better for HT

I have a Pioneer SC37 and and SC57

I also have an old VSX47TX stored in the closet

This is identical to the SC-65 (amp, psu, everything) minus the Elite amber led, logo and 2 year warranty though Costco has the warranty part covered. If there was an online link this would be front page and already sold out, great deal.

How would you compare your SC37 to SC57 vs the SC68. If you had all three, which would you pick. I would say its obvioius the two latest version, but sometimes the upgrade in features doesn't really matter in some set up.

Im thinking those with a SC37/57 really wouldn't need any type of upgrade, but I don't know. I keep hearing first 4K ultra upscaling, but haven't done research on it.

that depends on what you consider a "deal"

an item is only a deal if it meets( or exceeds) your expectations and then just happens to have a great price

that being said...they have the SC61 for $499 and the SC65 for $999 at Magnolia Home Theater( Best Buy) right now....thats 400-500 off retail

I prefer the sound of the SC37 to the SC57

In fact I only bought the SC57 because it was a smoking deal at $800($2199 MSRP) and I thought I would like it better than my SC37
Got it home...connected and its a little "bright" for my tastes

Its does have better networking features than the SC37 and does include Airplay

I have never used an SC68...so I cant comment

Neither are even close to as good of a deal as this. This IS a rebadged SC-65.

and you know this how 100%...you must be a Pioneer engineer

I dont know what this..or the SC65 offers...I do know that it seems that Magnolia is not carrying their Thx ultra unit..the SC68 this year as they have the THX ultra units in past years

on another note I have gotten some really serious deals at the end of the season on Elite receivers

I use mine mostly for HT, therefore i'd be much more apt to pick up the denon as imo, audyssey makes a big difference over the pioneer version.

For anyone that thinks that the price still isn't good $841.56 - http://slickdeals.net/f/5743250-Pioneer-SC-1522-K-9-2-Channel-Network-Ready-AV-Receiver-841-56-w-FS-Amazon?v=1 was the previous best price this has ever sold for. It's pretty much been $999+ everywhere until now, even with tax this is a smokin deal.

For those of you in the Twin Cities area, the Maplewood store doesn't carry these, and there are 14 left in the Maple Grove store as of about 6:00PM tonight.

I grabbed #15 Wink

Thanks to the OP for this - I'm about 50% finished with my basement and have been looking for an updated receiver - this should do nicely!

The 1222-K (model below this one) is a "rebaged" SC-61 minus a feature or two (plastic front panel instead of alum, no 12V triggers)

It stands to say the 1522-K is a rebaged SC-65.

The amp sections are the same, for sure. D3 digital amps, cool even when cranked up, very very low electrical draw. I got the 1222-K from Newegg, or else Id jump on this (if my Costco gets them), or the SC61 for 499 even though I dont think I can find that around here
