Option F : 5.2 channel surround system & Front bi amping connection
Is this option found without the unit connected to a display?

I ask because I have my connected to the source with a 50 ft toslink cable, I tried to set up a 1080p monitor next to the unit to use the on screen display, but it just shows a blank (seems like it may be trying to connect). I dont know if it just wont work with a monitor, or if there is an issue with the unit. I dont think its the unit because I bought more than one and already returned a unit for the same problem, I just have no clue what I am doing wrong. I even ran a 40ft connection to the tv (hdmi) and still nothing.

Never mind, it was the monitor, having it connected corrupted the handshake (I guess)

I agree too with spending a little more to get nicer speakers. I've had the same speakers for over 10 years now but have upgraded receivers 5 times. Speaker technology doesn't change as much as AVR tech. If you have nice speakers, you'll hear the difference each time you upgrade in AVR technology. I couldn't afford to get all the speakers I wanted at first so I spaced the purchases apart rather than compromising on low quality speakers that I'd end up wanting to replace later. I purchased all 3 matching front speakers first, then a sub, surrounds, stands for front speakers, second sub and just recently front heights. If you buy low quality speakers it won't matter how nice the AVR is. They can only reproduce the sound the way they were made to.
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it!

Damn ... why can't Houston store carry these? When I called Houston stores, all of them told me that new record is created, but receivers are not in stock. WTH?
C'mon y'all... Plan a trip to DFW to watch our Rangers beat up on your 'stros LMAOLMAOLMAO, and pick one up at the Arlington store.

Well yeah you need to go into setup and then speaker setup. Other option is to connect the the wiring correctly and doing full auto MCCAC.
The setup options are shown on front LCD panels also.

Before driving 200 miles from Houston, I called Arlington store. A sweet lady told me that the item number is not in the system, and they only carry home theater system. Saved 400 miles. Mad

FYI, the Superior Store in CO had 16 in stock last friday, and only had ten when I bought a week before, so they must have had a re shipment, anyone near there should be able to get them.

I was unable to access the menu until yesterday, when I discovered the Monitor I had hooked up was perventing an hdmi output. I was finally able to set up the correct speaker config, update the firmware, and calibrate the setup.

Its very smooth, I used to turn up my previous set up and would know it was loud because either the speakers distored, or my ears started to hurt, neither of which happens with the new setup. My wife was okay with the reciver when i told her the price vs msrp, but pissed when she saw the size of the speakers. Only took one playthrough of her songs to get her back on my side.

I was really worried when the video out wasnt working with the monitor, I am glad it is just an issue with the monitor, I was worried it may have been a defect with the batch costco received. Thank god it is not.
