agreed...but like that old saying goes the "bad few ruin it for the many good"

I am sure they have some abusers out there
The retailers I have seen have put a tight rein on this type of thing....especially items that change quickly in value or trend..like electronics

Staples and Best Buy for example have 15 day return policy on most electronics now

BB does give you 60 if you are a reward zone silver

on another note...I called the closest Costco and she said they didnt have the item...but that it was listed as "new" so I should check back?

listed as new.....a discontinued /end of cycle item?

Makes me wonder if she understood the numbers I read off...I did check the OP's sku numbers twice before I called

I have no issue with products made in China. I believe it was some other goofball who said they might not consider a product because it was made in.China.
on the bright side turnne has finally grasped the Costco satisfaction guarantee, I think..
Yes, admittedly conk, that goofball was me. But if you look back to my post to you, I "forgettably" owned a Denon receiver that died on me in less than 30 days. I cannot remember what model number it was, but it definitely was not one of their upper-tier receivers. I took it back to BB and used my money to buy an open-box Yamaha RX-V3900, which is still going strong today. I was definitely more impressed with the Denon's video processor however. And, per my prior reply, I'm still waiting for that list of receivers you have owned, and what you would recommend based on your experience.

I do very well at BB....in their Magnolia Audio section most often

They generally have the highest prices all year

But when they decide to blow something out...they get busy at what must be hundreds of dollars lost per item...nod

Many of their audio items would only be found at independent audio shops in my market who would never sell items below cost like BB will do

and you still have bad comprehension.....I would still prefer a manufacturer warranty
pretty much the defensive response I expected from you. I would venture to say you are in the minority here. Maybe we should take a poll.

1. 1 year warranty by Pioneer, where you would have to pay shipping to Pioneer to have your unit fixed and returned to you. or...

2. Lifetime guarantee that you can get your money back at Costco by simply returning if to the store.

By your last few posts, you CLEARLY show your initial ignorance of the Costco satisfaction guarantee you purported to know "all about" earlier, which of course means everyone should be suspect of the rest of your posts.
I am also reminded of a saying my dad was fond of.. " You can't have a rational discussion with an irrational person."

Pretty sure he understands what you're saying... He's (...and the rest of us are) just having a hard time fathoming how someone could prefer a 1-3 year warranty, where you pay shipping, have to wait for returns and run the risk of your claim being denied or having to pay for it.

Whereas Costco's warranty is essentially lifetime, if you have any issue, you just bring it back in and walk out with an equivalent replacement.

that yamaha 3900 will probably last as long as you care to use it...unless you seriously start abusing it

I have had very good luck with Yamaha and Pioneer elite

problems with Onkyo and Denon products with 3 maybe 4? replaced units

receiver choice should be a combination of things.also, speaker choice, ohm ratings would also come into play. if you seriously would like my informed opinion on something, drop me a pm. I am always willing to help out fellow audio enthusiast. I just have issues with outdoor that come out with "blanket condemnations" of a product based on one bad experience..
the list of receivers, bluRay players, media players, amps and speakers I have had in the last 8 of so years is quite extensive. I am not "bragging" but simply starting a fact. I love playing with new toys, . which is why I bought one of these for myself while I . am in SoCal on vacation..

you didnt read my post and it applies to a specific type of transaction dollar amount

lets use an Onkyo receiver I had a few years ago as an example...I bought it refurbed for like $550..it was an 875 and it came with a 1 year warranty
HDMI board went out in 10 months...$650 repair
Had it been Square trade...Visa signature..American express( or a few others)
Their maximum out of pocket is what you paid for the item
So in that case they would have given me a check for the $550 I spent initially on the unit...and not fixed it

Perhaps I could have bought another for that amount ..maybe not
With a manufacturers warranty what you paid for the item has no bearing on whether they will fix it or not

recent example is a panasonic 50ST50 I bought at the Sears outlet for $329...I bought the square trade warranty

But likely..if anything goes wrong all I will get is the $329 back from square trade
I may or may not be able to buy a TV of the quality of the ST50 at that time

if you pay full retail it doesn't matter..you are good

what no one has explained is will the Costco satisfaction guarantee fix an item when it cost more to fix than you paid for it..OR...will they give you a like item( no matter how much more its costs than the one you had) in exchange if yours breaks

If it does...then it is as good as a manufacturer warranty

in regard to shipping an item....There are audio service outlets for all the major brands here in town so I dont ship a unit in for repair

In fact with an Onkyo I dropped it off at the local center and Onkyo had it shipped to a master repair center( on their dime)....and then replaced it with a unit that 5x the cost of what I paid for the broken unit...

defensive...??

its the truth...I said I preferred a manufacturers warranty....and never said I knew anything about the Costco guarantee

1. Why would I pay shipping to Pioneer when there is an authorized repair center here in town?( and all the other major brands as well)

2. What if I want the unit fixed vs my money back

I dont know the Costco guarantee which is why I asked several posts ago

you didnt answer...will they fix an item when it costs more to do so than what you paid for it?

as for being in the minority..lol...as if that really matters

I was born a minority...so I assure you I am quite accustomed to being in one...and could care less if that is the case

But do take the poll you are talking about.....

Clearly..you have comprehension issues because I posted these same questions a couple of pages ago at least

somewhere around the time you asked me if I knew what an Audessey pro license was...

seriously?....laugh out loud..I have had several units of each manufacturers room correction systems..in many stages

I too am reminded of an old saying..."reading is fundamental"....and you clearly are not reading

Three left on the shelf at the Columbus store after I bought one, they might have some elsewhere as the shelf space in the area was limited.

turnne,
Yes, you are correct. I have reading comprehension issues. You are smarter than me, and everyone else in this thread. I bow to your knowledge of all things related to audio. I can only hope in the future i can become as knowledgeable as you. Everyone has authorized service centers near them if their electronics break. Thank you so much for your contribution to this thread.

or you could just buy it now...and when you see it hit a lower price get a refund

since they seem to have this open ended return policy that never ends...lol
Agreed, this is a comment I made in previous post. Will be calling weekly to check prices.

and still dont answer the question that I have asked a few times now..?..lol..
You mention and endorse something many times in this thread but cant answer a question about it

I will make assumptions like you do I guess

you dont know the answer.......ok...no surprise there I guess
Not sure there was any knowledge base going on here...remember I am still trying to find out what an Audessey pro license is..??

on another note...I would bet 90% of the people that have a Costco near them have an authorized repair center (for all the major brands) near them as well

I must have missed the part where you asked me a question. But, as you know, I have comprehension reading issues so I may have missed it. BTW, what is your screen name on AVS, I hope to go over there later and read up on some of your posts in the hope that maybe I can learn something instead of just making assumptions all the time..
I am sure that 90% of people that are near a Costco also have a factory authorized service center near hem for all manner of electronics. That sounds very plausible..
