Fewer annihilative retributive stringgate hi pass originators. Those are expensive and heavy (and mostly required for top of the line sound). You get what you pay for.
You are absolutely right. I had Pioneer 1014THX bought on clearance from BB about 8 years ago weighed 41 lbs and sold it on Amazon. Newer receivers weighing much less.

Not quite true on the 1014. It may have weighed 38-41lbs boxed when you sold it but the 1014 receiver only weighs 34lbs. My buddy still has one. Still pretty heavy for a AVR.

Page 73 of the owners manual says the receiver weighs 34lbs.

Pioneer SC-65/SC-1522K weights 33 lbs; whereas Elite 35 weighs 45 lbs. Why 65/1522 weighs less?
Dude, If you're gonna make statements like that at least do a little research and get your info right.

The SC-35 weight 40lbs, not 45.

PRODUCT DIMENSIONS
> W x H x D: 16.54" x 7.87" x 18.11"
> Weight: 40 lbs. 13 oz.

SC-1522
PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

I'd say different model and different price and not new in box.

I'd say that pretty much sums it up.

You did good. It's an older model than the Pioneer, and lacks Airplay, but it's a higher end receiver.

This Pioneer is comparable to the Yamaha RX-A2020. I have this receiver and a Yamaha RX-A1000. The Pioneer has more toys, but I found the Yamaha much easier to set up. Both are great once set up properly. But if the prices were equal on comparable units, I'd probably lean towards Yamaha.

Well I spoke to a costco representative here in Los Angeles... he told me all those receivers are no longer being sold in our area, that they were going back to the manufacturer as "unsaleable merchandise"

Really blows for me, always late to these things

Really, unsaleable. If they were available from their site for $650, they would go like hot cakes.

Any Body has an idea if this receiver plays Multichannel on Music like MP3???
I get the last one at Costco in FW Texas Last week and configured yesterday but cannot be able to play stream Music from my NAS thru the 7.1 Channels like My Yamaha.1065
The Receiver show that is Playing the Music only in Stereo (Front Speakers) I spend several Hours playing with the configuration and i still cannot be able to play music in multichannel.
If the receiver is not being able to play Multichannel audio i think that maybe i returned.
There is no reason for the 9.2 only for multichannel Blu-Ray Movies Only, How Many movies Have 9.1 Audio Channels? I don't remember anyone, and 7.1 are few.
I think that the 9 Channels is more suitable for the 3 zones play instead of zone 1 Multichannel with 9 speakers.
Anyone?? Help is Appreciated

I think it means that they had a limited time to sell the stock of that stuff... after a certain point they have to stop.
