Just an FYI for those new to this projector - it is large. Dwarfs my LED projector. If you have space constraints check for placement.
Some deals I got thanks to SD:
$200.00 - Intel i7-4770K CPU
$75.40 - 32gb (4 x 8gb) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM
$107.05 - Intel i5-2500k CPU
$54.05 - Kodak ZX5 Playsport video camera
$105.66 - Intel I3 2100 CPU and MSI H61M-E33 motherboard combo
$63.65 - AMD 840 Phenom II X4 CPU and MSI 880GM-E35 motherboard combo
$88.95 - XBOX 360 Arcade 4gb console w/ 2 games
I got one of these from the Epson store (refurb) a few months ago and it's great. If you hold out you they sometimes have them on sale there for $900 with free shipping. Though for $150 more for a new one isn't bad. Great picture.
My only complaint is that the auto-iris feature is kind of noisy. Like during quiet scenes you can hear the projector opening/closing the iris. So I just shut that feature off.
FYI this model is going on 3 years old and has been cheaper periodically from different vendors. Unless this has all the features your looking might want to wait a little longer for a new model.
Really? Unless you want 3d or memory zoom (for switching between 16:9 and 2.35:1) there STILL isn't much better out there. Factor in the price, and there's nothing better.
You don't have to believe me - just check out Evan on Projector Central (or any of the other HT sites, for that matter.) The 8350 is still in the top 5. I got mine in 2011 for less money - on a one day SD deal. I'm enough of a gearhead, I'd be more than happy to upgrade, but other than features, there isn't anything with a better display for less than twice the money.
The only cons to this unit are the manual zoom and focus. Plus - when setting up, moving the lens up/down also moves it right/left. So a simple raising of the image involves half a dozen baby steps.
OTOH, the lens of this has such a wide range of adjustment, you can place it almost anywhere.
Size? Compared to a paperback, its big. Compared to something big, its small.
