Different lenses, amazon with X le s is power zoom, newegg with 14-42mm zoom is manual and cheap, I'm having hard time selling mine brand new for $70 on CL
X version of this lens (amazon) sells for ~ $350 alone.
I just purchased body for $280 and got it yesterday so for another $120 with X lens seems like great deal.
I picked up the lens (Used, like-new Amazon $173) a few weeks ago, and it's actually quite a remarkable engineering feat. WAY better than an Canikon kit lens I've used in the past (it's still a 3.5 - 5.6 28mm-80mm equiv lens, mind you). A GOOD DEAL on the lens is around $300.
I do own G5 with 25mm f1.4 pana/Leica lens. 14-45mm and 45-150mm
along with newly purchased GX1 body and I actually prefer using GX1 over G5.
GX1 one is built like a tank ( very sturdy - made in Japan). G5 is solid but plasticky feel ( made in china).
I use GX1 with LVF2 viewfinder so in my case lack of viewfinder on GX1 body is not an issue.
Really, really nice camera (GX1).
At $399 with power zoom lens it's awesome deal I think.
I missed the G5 deal last time around, and still in the market for a Micro 4/3 camera. I am wondering if anybody has experience with both the Lumix G5 and this GX1X, or has knowledge of both. I understand the G5 kit comes with the cheaper non-PZ 14-42 lens, and also has a fairly larger body. Are there significant IQ or Video quality differences between both cameras? Is the higher cost for the G5 worth getting over this?
