This isn't necessarily a deal-breaker for me personally, but I do wonder how an LED-backlit TV can be so deep
These latest Samsung LED TVs are thick because they have a direct LED backlighting system instead of an edge-lit one. But don't get excited, as these are basically just CCFL LCD frames with LEDs instead of CCFLs; ie, while there may be an array of LEDs in the back, they are too far from the panel and too sparse to offer the black color depth that many higher-end LCDs used to offer.
And worse, these do NOT offer local dimming of any kind. However, they do have lower power consumption than the equivalent CCFL backlit monitor, and can also be typically be found cheaper in price.
