Deal Details

Hoffman's has a raspberry colored Ruger LCP pistol for $269.95 [hoffgun.com] and the black one for $289.95 [hoffgun.com] with $25 shipping.

I have this LCP (the black one, not the raspberry one) and carry it every day. No, it's not one you want to shoot over and over at the range, but it is easily concealable and secure in case you need it.

Couple it with the DeSantis Trickster holster [amazon.com] and you have a comfortable, concealed carry solution.

$289.95 + $25 shipping + $20 FFL + gas + time to go pick it up makes this $335-$350 total for me, retail on ruger's site is $379 (http://www.ruger.com/products/lcp/models.html), doesn't appear to be that great of a deal IMO
1 C&R FFL licence = $30.00 for 3 years easy as that ship to your house and discounts at supply warehouses.

Not really a good deal. Buds guns everyday price is like $289 with free shipping and their network of local FFLs that charge less fees. Some of their FFL agreements are as low as $10.

Loving my lcp, got it with the crimson trace, only 50 rounds through it so far, it is not a range gun.

I have the mark 3 for that, 500 rds for $13 Smilie

I expected, and even like, the long trigger pull, and it doesn't kick as bad as I expected.

just don't do what someone did recently in our town, have it fall out of your pocket at the movie theater, then some kids going to see the hobbit find it.

Good price in today's Market. I ordered one on Tuesday and it shipped the next day. A pleasant surprise with how busy they must be.

And wow at those California FFL prices. It's $25 for me in the Midwest. More than I'd like to pay, but glad it's not $50+

Never purchased a firearm online.

I comprehend that I need to find a local FFL to receive it & process some stuff - for $XX.XX

Is this something that I can buy now - to get in on the deal - then work on finding who gives me the best deal locally, then complete the "paperwork" with Hoffman's?

Thank you to those who know -

It's just like catalog gun sales. Out of state dealer "sells" to your local dealer who takes a prenegotiated commission on the sale to you the customer. OR you can become a dealer yourself, but that loophole is eventually going to get closed since its also a tax loophole.

Sorry, I'm spoiled. I live in FL where the law explicitly permits accidental display of a firearm (as long as it was not done in a threatening manner or with the intent to intimidate). I would not be worried about printing at all, but that's just me personally. In any case, I carry IWB 99% of the time because the gun is pretty much invisible that way although sometimes my shirt does get hung up on the sticky rubber grip.

I would also point out that most people never think twice about a bulge in a pocket. I was amazed at how I could walk around the mall or grocery store with this incredibly obvious gun shaped bulge in my front right pocket and no one ever even looks or notices. A revolver, more so than the flatter pistol, looks like just a bunch of junk in the pocket. People probably assume it's a cell phone and keys.

I don't understand the duality of the FL legal system all too often. Y'all regulate the piss out of so many things nobody else does, and then have some other laws you never enforce.

I chalk it up to FL having more 1st gen residents (from other states and other nations) than anywhere else...

That doesn't appear accurate as of now - as Bud's doesn't have any stock of virtually any Ruger LCP - and a couple I checked showed over $300 - so with free shipping it still doesn't compare I don't think.

Local bigger dealer said it was a good price - and they can't get them in to stock. (Common problem apparently.) They charge $50 for the transfer - essentially a deterrent to doing so. If he could get it - I'd be close to the same price if I'd use him as the FFL - so I'd have to want it bad.

Found a local small dealer (part timer) who will charge $20, so if I can get the details established while Hoffman's still has stock I think I'll "pull the trigger" on this for the wife...

(sorry - that is the joke that I used on my e-mail to her about the gun)

Everybody's got mugged some time in their life.
Not true dude. Unless you walk around the barrio at 3 am.

I am all for CCW, but what's going to happen if the robber has a gun? You gonna tell him to hold on a second while you get your gun out to make it a fair fight?

Like I told my kids when they were growing up, if a robber wants your wallet or your cell phone just give it to them, They are replaceable, you aren't.

I was torn between a bunch of 380's a few months back and this was one of my top picks. This is an excellent price.

I ended up going with the Micro Desert Eagle. Not much more $ but an all around better pistol imo. plus you can use it to beat them with when you run out of ammo... I recommend the DeSantis Nemesis holster over the OP's choice. It has a sticky like grip texture that keeps it in your pocket on withdraw. I modified one for my MDE by undoing the stitches and having my leather buddy resew the MDE trigger guard profile.

I'll take 20:1 odds These types of sidearms will be cheaper this time next year no matter how the gun control argument plays out. Even if gun control goes through, these small handguns will still be legal, so I have to disagree.

There are NO slick deals on small handguns with standard magazines right now. If you're buying something that might not be legal in a year or two, then you could argue that the best bad price is better than not having it at all --but that argument is defunct with this style of handgun IMHO.

I do see one possible exception to my argument, and that is if we somehow start funding the ATF out of taxes charged on the purchase of guns. I don't see THAT happening though, since it'd make the ATF have a financial interest in increasing gun sales...

Update - I did purchase yesterday - FFL is less than 1/2 mile from my work ($20 to process) - so I should be picking up from him next week & then Wife should be happy.

Thanks OP!

Becoming an FFL dealer costs thousands of dollars and very specific business requirements.

When you purchase you have to set your local FFL dealer as the shipping address, so to answer your question, No.

Bought two of these LCP's about 3 years ago. Shortly thereafter, had to send both back to get modified by Ruger since it could accidentally go off if dropped. When I got them back both would stove pipe at least once every 20 rounds or so. The grip is so small, and the mag release button so touchy, that gripping it too tightly will cause the mag drop. It only drops by a 1/4" since you're holding it, but that cause it to misfeed and jam.

As others have said, the trigger pull and travel are really awful. You have to pull about 90% of the travel before it fires - literally the trigger is starting to come in contact with the grip. You almost feel like it's stuck. Both do this.

I had to send them back to Ruger a second time to get the magazine release issue fixed, but now, a few years later, they're doing it again.

I'm NOT comfortable using this as a daily carry. At best, it's a belly gun. At worst, it's a club.

I would not recommend this gun - especially those getting their first. Compared to my others, this is by far the worst.
