this is a nice pack for traveling and using as a carry on or even a day pack. I have the 50 liter version. I believe that the REI one on sale now is designed for a small to medium torso man, or a woman's torso. ( I could be wrong.) so do your research on the sizing.
Much better design w/ adjustable torso, a much better brand, slightly better price, and only a tiny bit smaller. Great as a day or weekend backpack.
I took it to the Gila in January with my gf (she has the http://www.rei.com/product/830253...pecial-buy), and I was able to carry one change of clothes, my REI Quarterdome T2 tent (fly, stakes, and tent), cookpot & MSR Whisperlite Universal stove + 20oz gas bottle, MSR MiniWorks EX filter, and a Platypus 3L reservoir inside the MH pack. Plus snacks, lights & headlamp, camera, etc. in the top. Strapped my REILumen 25F bag and Prolite Plus pad on the outside, and I was set for the entire 3day weekend. She packed the food.
All of that stuff was purchased via SD, by the way. Even the camera!

I have a Kelty Redwing 50 from STP (for less than $50) and it's one of the best packs I've ever used. I've taken it all over the word, including all over East Africa where it was tied down on bus roofs, dragged, dropped, thrown, whatever - it's tough and strong and functional and comfortable. Holds a ton.
This bag is 2650 cubic inches and the 50 I have is 3100 cubic inches of space, and in my 50 I carry enough gear for 2 weeks or more. Seriously good bag.
Also keep in mind this is panel loading or front loading - which means you don't have to unpack your bag and repack it every time you need something that's migrated to the bottom the way the typical top loading backpack is set up. That alone makes it stand out. It's hard to find a good quality front loading backpack.
