Thread Details

Blizzard is offering a free week of World of Warcraft [battle.net] to idle accounts.

I wouldn't mind poking around a bit, it's been a while since I played WoW. Figured if I was interested, some else just might be too.

Oh, and the fine print:
Quote from Blizzard :
*Players who have been inactive for more than 30 days on 3/5/13 will receive 7 FREE days of game time.

I accepted the 7 day offer on an alternative account. When I logged into battle.net it had on the right side a 10 day trial for mop on the right side. I figure maybe wait till the 7 day and try the activation on that account.
"mop" = Mists of Pandaria

Wait, so this is just 7 free days, but no additional content. I'd go back if I got access to the new expansion for 7 days, but not if it's just the same content I quit a year ago.
When you log in with this, it will offer you a 10 day trial of mists of panderia.

I got an email about this that I took advantage of, and it states that April 2nd was the cutoff for the offer. You do get to explore pandaria, just not able to level past 85 if you don't own the mists expansion.

Can you do the 7, then add the 10? (17 total)

Or is it a one or the other?

I haven't accepted the offer yet myself, I'm backlogged with work and am even working today trying to catch up. I'm holding off until Tuesday hoping I can clear some time to play. I just want to spend some time leveling from 80. Maybe try a panda alt. Just futz around pretty much, but that said, I still figure that'll blow several evenings Stick Out Tongue

I believe that if you qualify for scroll of resurrection, you can get cataclysm for free when you accept the scroll, plus a toon at lvl 80 or 85 (can't remember). Might wanna check that before you accept the 7-day trial.

I used this a month ago on my main accounts. SO can't use it again. But this made me tempted to sub for a month and make another hunter (Already have 2 at max level o.0)...

Clearly this is just your opinion as over 9 1/2 million people still play this game...

I haven't played in over a year but I'll give it a try again for free, thanks OP.
9 1/2 million have not bothered cancelling..not necessarily still play. thats how recurring billing works.. alot of these people will stay until thier credit card expires because the monthly fee is so small you don't notice it on your bill.

wow gameplay wise has been dead for awhile... you can do heroics in green even now its so easy.. zero challenge.. its been simplified to the point of sillyness. Id go as far as saying the burning crusade was probably the last time the game was any good.

Depending how close to a month you are...

I can't imagine having so much money I don't notice a $15 a month recurring charge on my bill. MAYBE it'd slip past in a single month.... This is World of Warcraft here, not AOL we are talking about! [businessinsider.com] Oh, wait! THIS one [azfamily.com] is better, it's EXACTLY your point! hahaha

Heh, Staples was supposed to give me a price match REFUND of $7, instead they charged me $7. I'm just waiting until Monday to "let them know" that I noticed...

Your statement is one of the most ridiculous I've seen on these forums. Just because you don't enjoy the game anymore doesn't mean 9.5 million other people don't enjoy it either and are just too stupid or too rich to cancel their sub. I happen to think MoP is the best expansion to the game so far.

About heroics, yeah, they're easier than what they used to be, but that's what challenge modes are for now, and they are everything we've been waiting for in terms of pushing a group to maximum collaboration and skill to get the best times. You can outgear heroics and even raids but you can't outgear challenge modes.

You'd be better off having a friend resurrect your account if it's been idle more than 90 days.

Good to know, I planned to do the same with a Scroll, 7 days then 10 days. Should be plenty of time to go 80->90, just waiting until I have time to do it.

lol.. did you read the post above about AOL. Its not a matter of being rich or stupid. you are on a site called slickdeals..that is about saving money. you look for savings. you have a different mindset then most people.

Most other people do not monitor every 15 dollar item on thier statement for accuracy when the bill comes.. If they bother to look at all, lots do not bother to do a line by line if the total is around what they expect it to be and noone had booked a trip to antigua on thier account. others are not sure if its something there husband bought or vice versa, or they are used to seeing the charge and say oh forgot again.. next month definatly.

As someone who has run business's that runs on recurring billing, I can assure you most people forget to cancel until the card expires.. then consider cancelling ..when they recieve the decline notice. however they realize they just wasted 4 years without getting anything in return so decide to re-signup to give it a try again and make all the money the wasted not for nothing.. then get bored, forget again and do the same thing 4 years later when the card expires again... not to mention those who spent MONTHS or YEARS building up thier charachter and can't just bring themselves to cancel and forget about it and admit they wasted years playing. so they play every month for a few minutes,, maybe check the auctions look at thier 50k gold they never spend.. etc..

Its why affiliate sites can pay more in commision then the actual signup price for many deals that are based on recurring billing.. because people forget to cancel and the math works out even after you take into consideration those who do cancel right away..

studies show after like 25 bucks or something people start to take notice more.

I did not say 9.5 million subscribers were stupid, i just said thats not close to actual users...

completing dungeons as fast as possible is not what anyone has been waiting for its whats wrong with wow. back in the day dungeons used to be challenging and involved.. now they are race through as fast as you can and run it over and over and over.

The good ole days were 40 man raids that took HOURS, having to concentrate on pulls, having to defeat tough mobs that dont involve spamming buttons and burning through mobs.. requiring team work or getting a total wipe. now everything is PUG able... wow is dead..lol
