Thread Details

I received an HFT flyer as a local paper insert that had a very interesting coupon.

The super coupon says:

FREE!

Cen-Tech 7 Function Digital Multimeter (Item 98025/69096/90899)

Reg Price: $9.99

NO PURCHASE REQUIRED!

Official terms from the coupon itself:

Cannot be used with other discount coupon. Coupon good at our retail stores only. Offer good while supplies last. Shipping and Handling charges may apply if not picked up in-store. Non-transferable. Original coupon must be presented. Valid through 5/28/13. Limit one coupon per customer per day.

Assuming most cashiers will simply scan in the coupon's barcode (as they are accustomed to these product giveaways), the stricter terms of this coupon should not present too much of a problem. YMMV, of course.

More info on the CenTech 7 Function Multimeter can be found by clicking on this LINK [harborfreight.com].

Yeah, the $9.99 ones are quite common. That is exactly what raised an eyebrow on this one; it having a "no purchase" requirement. Some fellow SDers from the HFT coupon thread are even going so far as to accuse me of posting "a fake". laugh out loud

My local HFT manager won't accept copies of coupons that are from newspaper flyers. "Original coupon must be presented".....

I always like free stuff but when I got 3 of these, all were DOA. Finally called it quits after the 3rd one.

There are actually 3 varieties of their coupons. The min purch of $9.99, with any purchase and with no purchase. Generally the one in the back of car magazines will be with any purchase. Then there will be three in the Sunday paper. One in the "TV Guide". One on a half page on the comics. One in one of the coupon inserts. Those will vary between all three varieties.

Every single one i got from there for free worked. Works great for general diagnosing things around the house.

I got one back a few months ago and it works just fine. What put me off was that there was a bit of hot glue on its outer casing for some reason. When I tried to clean it off, most of it came off w/o any issue. However, on a small area of the back of the unit, the hot glue actually melted into the plastic housing of the MM. It works, was free, so I just dealt with it.

Seriously though, if I'd have wasted my time w/even one DOA, I would test its replacement in-store as to not repeat the process. bulb

The weak link for this DMM is the test leads. I have five of these units. There's a potentiometer inside for calibration. No problem calibrating them to a few mV up to 50 V DC.

I've got plenty of these. All work fine for the money (got free), but some need a little calibration.

Sounds like he's just a jerk. Mine always accept them, as long as they scan or they can read the #'s to type in.

Maybe he owns stock in Harbor Freight. laugh out loud
