Vitamin shop is doing BOGO 1/2 off again on their house brand supplements including this protein http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/stor...id=VS-2543
Which compares closely to ON Gold Standard.

Add 2 to your cart and the discount will show up plus you qualify for free shipping. Essentially making this decent protein $36/each for each 5.15 pound tub ( $0.0189 per gram )
I have been using this protein in both the Vanilla and Banana flavors in my daily green smoothies and it tastes just fine when mixed. I have also used the Chocolate Mint & Banana Cream flavors in the past, alone with just milk or water in a shaker and it is also pretty good and mixes well.

The sale is good through the month of April and good on ALL Vitamin Shoppe & Body Tech Brands (price reflected when added to the cart)

There is also CB on sites ranging from 10% on down depending on which site you prefer.

Not to TC, but is there any protein powders that are free of artificial sweetners? Even if it tastes like crap, I think I'd rather have that.

Yeah, we should just throw people in jail on a whim...screw this "proof" stuff.
Very weak analogy. Look at what happened to the margarine/butter debate. We thought we had proof margarine is healthier, and now people are switching back to good-old fashioned butter because of garbage science. Not to mention there is so much corruption and influence to yield any meaningful results from a food/nutrition study.

ON Gold Standard Natural is probably the most popular.

Yes, I know of ON Natural and the Whole Foods and Trader Joe's ones.

Hmmm...currently Fitrx has 10 pounds of Dymatize Elite for $72 (with free shipping). I'm on the fence since I've heard poor reviews on the "new and improved" formula. Comparing the two (since they're the same price), which one do you guys prefer?

How about you, as a consumer, decide what you should consume? You can do your own research and decide what you pull into your own body. I would rather see real data, real tests than have the FDA pull something without proof.

Your quote: "We always need to see "proof" (which may never come) before we take action"

Darn straight! If there's no proof, why take action? Be it criminal trials or food health, why take action based on whims?

I just bought this deal (2x5.15lbs). Chocolate tastes really good, but I didn´t like vanilla that much. Now I have Dymatize Elite Whey Protein Isolate (chocolate) and it tastes really bad. I don´t like it at all. Whey Tech 24 also has better protein content, about 81.6% compared to Dymatize (74.1%).

There are valid arguments for each side, which is why there really is no answer -- just risk tolerance I guess. It may or may not be safe you probably won't know for awhile. There are so many rumors out there especially on the internet. I've been considering switching to natural whey for awhile.

I wonder if the soy in this product or even ON's is genetically modified?

Warning: Has toxic artificial sweeteners.
Not enough to be worried about. Toxic is relative.

Water is toxic in high enough volume.

A beer is far more toxic than this protein.

I picked up a bag from Costco of the Cytosport 100% whey (chocolate- makers of muscle milk) . It has a short list of ingredients and tastes great to me in milk and water. I have seen many good reviews on that. This makes me leary to try 10 lbs of something that I may not like the taste of, based on the reviews, to save less than $8. If you don't like it at Costco, they will take it back. Of course, only works for those who have Costco memberships- but something to consider if worried about taste.

It is $48/6lb and the reviews that are bad on Amazon are generally because the price is like $20 higher on there.

If anyone has used the cytosport and has also tried this, please let me know which is better.

Because having no proof doesn't mean it's safe, and there is evidence to suggest that artificial sweeteners are harmful.

Hmm, really? I think you'd be better off having a beer every day (water, barley, malt, yeast) than this stuff.
