How does this work with iPhone?
This works well with iOS devices as iOS includes PPTP/L2TP support. With that said, some users have found that when certain iOS devices "go to sleep" it causes the VPN connection to disconnect. This could be annoying depending on how you are using our service. This issue does not exist on any of the other devices and may be limited to certain iOS builds. There are many Apple forums where you can learn more about this and the steps Apple is taking to bring relief to this problem.

I've been using PIA for about 4 months now and the speeds are close to my 20 down 2 up easy to set up everything is good , the only thing i cant figure out is how to access my home network while im away.

I have vpn set up on my gateway so that every device on our network uses the vpn , I need to access my home network while i am away from home but when the vpn is active i cant do that , yet.

I have vpn server and client capabilities on my router does anyone know how to set that up or is it even possible?
This should be possible with an advanced routing setup. Please get in touch with our Tier 2 support team, and they should be able to help you!

So does this auto-renew every year ?
If you signed up with Paypal, CC, Amazon or Google it will auto renew as you are setting up a subscription. You can cancel at anytime and your account will remain active for the remainder of the billing period.

Thanks again for the wonderful discussion! bounce

Just got this up and running on an old DD-WRT router via OpenVPN. It rocks. Nice having a hardware VPN you can just plug into and you are all of a sudden in a different country.

I bought a year of this a few months ago, would I be able to reup another year on the same account with this promotion?
No! I just did and was sent logon instructions for a new account. When i asked for the subscription to be added to the original, I got the following, with no offer to refund! : Thank you for contacting us,

At this time, our billing system is not setup to change subscription types or add to existing subscriptions.

Just signed up to give this a try.
Running the VPN client on a virtual machine.
No VPN speeds: 50/5.
First attempt, I checked off the kill switch option and dns leaks and connected. I got 10/15 speeds. Thought I'd try a different server. At this stage, the program would not connect me, no matter what I did. uninstalled and reinstalled, removed their driver and reinstalled it, I couldn't get it to work. Couldn't connect without it either. I had to switch to a different virtual adapter to get my internet back
2nd attempt, reinstalled the software, connected to several different servers throughout the US and Canada. My download speeds varied from 3Mbps to 13Mbps.
3rd attempt, I changed the VPN client to connect with TCP rather than UDP. I now get speeds between 20-30. Not my max but if I keep getting that I won't complain. I'm just worried that in busy times I'll get much lower speeds and it will already be too late to cancel the service.

What method were you using to check your speed? (Just wanting to rule out the newbie stuff of expecting torrent rates to be a good measure.)

speedtest.net, letting it choose the best server for me based on ping.
Torrent speeds can vary because of way too many things.

Thanks. That is what I was hoping to hear. Big Grin

If you choose to play with it some more, please try several servers on the VPN and force the same server for speedtest.net to see if that changes anything. (Other than ping time obviously.)

Could I install this on one machine and leave the other machine 'as it is'... or is this actually changing settings in my router when I use it?

Can you connect to their service from 2 or 3 different IP addresses at once or is it only 3 connections but all have to be on the same IP?
Did we ever get an answer to this?

Have a general VPN question. I understand that this service can be used at public wifi spots like Starbucks or at an airport for extra security. However, if I'm checking my hotmail/gmail accounts or accessing financial sites that already use https, then isn't this sufficient since https is already encrypting the traffic between my device and the site? Does using a VPN in this situation really add any value or is it just an extra layer of security that probably isn't needed?

3 simultaneous connections. Doesn't matter what IP. Just 3 simultaneous connections.
