Basically it's because we don't have the kind of all-inclusive health insurance system that other countries have but instead we have systems that were greatly watered down because of the power of doctors, insurance companies, and crazies who've screamed "socialism!" and "keep government out of my Medicare". So the result is that private insurers want to skim the cream and insure only young, healthy people because that keeps their costs down, but it passes the costs of other people onto the rest of society.
It's basically government mandated personal responsibility because everybody is required to contribute to accounts for education, housing, health care, and retirement. Also health care is subsidized. So where's your free market example?
You'll have to provide a little proof on the mandates for education, housing etc.. I know you like us to take your word on everything.. but I'm not googling everything you say.
I simply expect adults to be at least adequately informed about the political issues on which have strong opinions. Actually it's You People® who expect others to take your word on everything and not provide proof.
“I’ve been able to cut my prices in half because my overhead will be so much less,” he said.
Before, Ciampi charged $160 for an office visit with an existing patient facing one or more complicated health problems. Now, he charges $75.
Patients with an earache or strep throat can spend $300 at their local hospital emergency room, or promptly get an appointment at his office and pay $50, he said.
“If more doctors were able to do this, that would be real health care reform,” he said. “That’s when we’d see the cost of medicine truly go down.”
I'm strongly considering doing this with my dental practice
Doing so is very difficult because of the stupid, parasitic dental HMOs that were formed after The HMO Act of 1973 (AKA Nixoncare). Employer based health care is probably the only concept that is even dumber than government managed health care.
Dental insurance companies have dentists by the balls in Ohio. There is a ridiculous law that violates our contract right's that forces dentists to abide by a fee schedule set BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR PROCEDURES THEY DON'T EVEN COVER.
...Because of Nixoncare many of them, even if they understand the absurdity of dental insurance, are still forced into a plan, essentially forcing the dentist to accept it.
