I pre-ordered before I got my codes... waiting on hold now to get this sorted out.
Yeah, they kind of messed it up for me. I upgraded at a AT&T store yesterday, and today 11AM, got the email for free case. Nobody was able to add the promo code, so I had to go to the store to cancel my preorder from yesterday, then I had to try to re-order online. When I tried to re-order, the free MedialinkHD device was out of stock, so I no longer could get the medialink device. I went back to the store, and re-did a preorder of htc one, with a medialink device they had in store. Wasn't able to add the promo code for the free case.
If I see the medialink come back online, I'll have to go back to the store to cancel my pre-order and return the medialink.
All this could have been avoided if they had sent out the email yesterday when the pre-orders started.
What would be the benefit of getting the developer version vs the unlocked version? Just the space and the unlocked bootloader? What would have the best resell value (if needed)
the 32gb unlocked version is just sim unlocked. the 64gb dev version has its bootloader unlocked and is sim unlocked. Whether you can buy a carrier branded One and get its bootloader unlocked is still up in the air. Some carriers will restrict HTC from allowing bootloaders to be unlocked through the HTC Dev site.
However, that doesnt mean it wont be cracked and allowed to be unlocked - it will just take time.
So technically the 64gb dev version will have the highest resale value.
p.s. having your bootloader unlocked means you can flash roms
Get an iPhone is you want higher resell value.
thats what I use my upgrades for. Buy a newly launched iPhone at discount, and flip it. Buy me some unlocked phones

this phone may not match up with the s4 spec wise, but i would largely prefer it because of it's smaller size and design choice
just noticed it's size is probably a little bigger. makes it more even battle. i still like htc though! if they could shrink it a smidgen...
The S4 also uses the same exact Snapdragon 600 for the US market. The S4 is simply taller, with SD card slot and removeable battery. I really hate the same outdated plastic body on the S4, they should call it the S3S not S4. The specs aren't that much better than the S3.
Finally the One is available for sale! My htc One X is now at Squaretrade to get fixed, what a beautiful dream it would be if they tell me they can't fix it and will just send me a check with the phone's value, then I would be allover this deal! THx for posting OP
I've never given any smartphone an editors choice award before, though I daily regret not giving the One S an award of some kind. For the HTC One I'm giving our Editors Choice Gold award, which is our second highest award. The One is an incredibly awesome device.
I'm a big fan of the HTC One and can see myself using it for quite a while, even without seeing necessarily everything of its main upcoming contenders. It's a device which amazingly is built to the kind of specifications I'd want from a device — huge emphasis on camera, all metal construction with actively tuned antennas, and a powerful SoC inside.
