One of the reasons I like fiction, one of the things that makes fiction standout, is that authors are able to craft stories that transcend prejudice. One of the great things about Ender's game isn't just that it told an exciting story about a clever boy, but it's able to humanize an enemy that had been the enemy throughout the book. Fiction is so good at making us see things from different perspectives.
I feel the same way about Brandon Sanderson.
People like Sanderson and Card don't lack imagination. Or even empathy. I'm not sure they would be able to write such brilliant books without those characteristics.
Back to the thread - great book.

Reason: removed political/controversial comments
I gave up on listening to anyone famous talk about something other than what they are famous for (film, book, tv) because it made me hate them and not want to see/read whatever they were in.
I think me and you would get along great... I wouldn't be able to see a single movie these days if I paid attention to their personal lives/views...

"You know anything about cars?"
"Well, the right pedal is the gas, and the left one's the brake, I think your car has a third pedal though."
"Just hold this light and try not to touch anything."
"My GOD... I'd slap her just to change the expression on her face..."
