Thread Details

This is a great price on one of the best Blu-ray players out there. This is a "Universal-Disc" player, so it plays DVD-Audio & SACD in addition to the obvious ones. No brainer...EEK!

This is for brand-new, non-refurbished. Price is only good in store. The web site link below will list the full price. Rest assured it is $199.98 in-store.

This player has SACD/DVD Audio support, dual HDMI out, Qdeo AV processing, and PQLS, while cheaper BD players have... none of that. Basically, just stuff you don't need if you have to ask Wink

What exactly do those things do? So the PS3 is inferior?

Dual HDMI = self explanatory, good if your receiver does not support 3D passthrough
SACD/DVD support = self explanatory, plays SACD/DVD Audio discs (higher quality audio than CD). Only higher end BDs play SACD/DVDA
Qdeo processing = Processes images to produce better contrast/sharpness & reduce noise
PQLS = Pioneer's implementation of HDMI ARC, also can improve sound quality in some cases

My first receiver was a Pioneer. I have always enjoyed the looks of their Elite line. Anyways, thought I would share a video someone posted on AVS about this last year:

I have pioneer elite TVs, receivers and bluray players. I have had it with my disc players and switched to lower priced Sony players because they actually work. The pioneer players lock up all the time and these are the units prior to letting sharp making them for pioneer to save money. The sharp units are total crap and pioneer has fallen to new lows. Pioneer needs to fire half the execs and start over.
My PIO bluray player lock up once in a while also with some disc. I just updated with the latest firmware and it fixed the problem.

Some of you really are funny with the whole "How can a blu-ray player cost $200" thing. This really isn't a thread for you if you're asking that question.

holy crap! do you even know what the hell you are talking about?
Yeah man what the hell is wrong with you ignorant human animal? For $200 BD player I want to have a region and cinavia free 3BD-Player. Otherwise just built an HTPC or get a PS3 with CFW which does region free & cinavia free!!!

Dang this kind of pricey "Price: $1,199" I'd rather build myself a very nice HTPC & buy 2 PS3 with CFW for that price!!!!
