Wow, I was looking at this for baby monitor purposes. The level of paranoia I've found here is disturbing. Surveillance cameras and motion detectors? Where do you live where you need 4 motion detecting cameras feeding your iPad? I'm sure there are legitimate people that need that, but wow.
This is so bizarre. Just got one for a relative on Amazon at 87$. This would probably be the first time in my life I really don't care that there is a cheaper price for it somewhere. It works extremely well, was work the 87$ I just spent. Is worth even more for what I got. I think it is a great value. I think the 10w is definately the way to go.
Was extremely easy to setup. Got a No-ip.biz DDNS and got everything setup. TinyCam Monitor Free for andoid is way to go no crappy banner ads. Only thing gets left out is audio. You can use Chrome browser for Android too that works very well. But the app makes the stream more polished.
I really can't believe you can get a fully programmable internet IP cam for less than 100$. And have it going in minutes. Hardest thing is finding the ip on your network if you don't install their crappy "helper" software.
No, but the adapters to make them poe are cheap enough online. Keep in mind your probably going to have to get an 'active' one instead of passive if you have a long run. Active ones are more pricey however.
I'm looking at this as a baby monitor. Can anyone tell me if the night vision requires the IR-LED lights to be on in order for the night vision to work? I was looking at this other product's features here[babyping.com] that says it it does night vision without any light or glow to disturb your sleeping baby... but I don't want to pay $200 for that if I can get the foscam to do the same thing for $70.
I am wondering what type of offsite storage/playback solution people use with this webcam. I am planning to use this as a security camera. Storing video/pics on my computer is neither safe nor practical. I read that this camera can either stream video to a host website or ftp files to an online storage site. Anyone has experience with either of them?
Got one...This will be my first security camera. Been wanting one for awhile to see who's been stealing our donation bags left out to be picked up. Getting one even though it's not the lowest price it's been to see how it is. If I like it, I'll setup a deal alert for couple more.
