Deal Details

Not as hot as the ~$350 deal I got 2 years ago on the T110, but server deals seem pretty rare these days.

linkadoo [dell.com]

Default config is:
Intel® Xeon® E3-1220v2 3.10 GHz, 8M Cache, Turbo, Quad Core/4T (69W)
4GB Memory (1x4GB), 1600Mhz, Dual Ranked, Low Volt UDIMM
No OS
1x 500GB 7.2K RPM SATA 3Gbps 3.5in Cabled Hard Drive
On-Board Single Gigabit Network Adapter
DVD drive
no keyboard or mouse
1 year warranty

I upgraded my config to the E3-1230v2 for $38.44 which bumps the PassMark score from 6742 to 9051. That is the price/performance sweet spot for this particular deal. Another upgrade worth considering is the 1TB drive for $20 extra.

Starting price is $602.84 but coupon $ZG1V$CLGM6R0Z takes $170 off for a total of $432.84 shipped + options + tax.

Mine will get a RHEV 3.2 install and sit next to my T110 running ESX 5.1

Other stuff
DIMM slots: 4 slots supporting a max of 32GB RAM
PCIe 2.0 slots: Two x8 slots; One x4 slot; One x1 slot

Need to find out tomorrow if it supports VT-D since I want to build an All-in-One ESXi/ZFS file server, but if it does I'm jumping on this. Thanks OP.

The processor itself supports VT-D

And according to this PDF, the PowerEdge T110 II Mobo supports it as well:

I was reading about the T110 (not the T110 II) just now and learned that VT-D was on by default without a setting in the bios, so it looks like it is a standard feature for the series.

Does this come with onboard video card? Since E3-12x0 v2 doesn't include graphics.

No DRAC. The fairly comparable Compaq/HP Proliant ML110 at $450 ($350 open-box) at NewEgg includes DRAC (aka ILO3) board by default, plus 2 gig-e NICs by default. And it's hot-swap...

We have 3 of the ML110's at work. iLo is free to use with the exception of the remote control piece, which it will only kick you out when it boots into the OS. I believe the remote control license runs around $300.

I am assuming this comes with standard DDR3? Anyone happen to know if the motherboard supports DDR3 ECC?

This is a pretty darn good deal OP. I paid $200 for my Xeon 1230 v2 alone, and another $200 for a Supermicro motherboard. At this price I am tempted to grab another server for no real good reason. (If it supports ECC)

Ilo3 without the paid license is missing the features needed to properly manage hardware remotely. However, you can use HP trial licenses if you need to do something like mount isos remotely, but it is a pain to do. This may have a baseboard management controller though.

There are much better deals on Ebay on off lease L5520 setups if you're looking to spin up virtual machines. For something new this looks relatively solid.

The memory controller is integrated onto the processor with Ivy Bridge, this will support unbuffered ECC memory. 8GB Dimms at 1600mhz are the largest the memory controller will support, for a max capacity of 32GB of memory.
