E-300 is really slow. I love AMD, but spend $30 more and you can get at least an A4, or get an A8 for less than $100 more and have a quad-core with literally 4x the overall performance of the E-300. The E-300 is the performance equivalent of a Core2Duo ULV.

That defeats the purpose that this deal might be used for. The point is a cheap laptop for basic users not a gaming laptop. The deal is $298, you are then telling people to add another $100 onto it and spend $398 for another laptop. This was not posted to refute that there are quadcores for $400, but rather a decent laptop for very cheap. I can even top that and say add another $50 onto your added $100 and you can step up an even better model, we can do that all day, but it contributes nothing.

Yes it is a decent price for MSRP. Still I agree with kwhitegocubs. The processor in this is so slow you might as well buy a tablet for this price. It would do just as much and could be resold at some point for something.

But it's not a great deal. There have been Toshibas selling for $269 or $279 with these specs off an on for weeks, and Lenovo has about a million scratch and dent models running $225 or $230 with equal or better processors (The E1-1200 is a bit faster).

Why would people want scratch and dents with Intel for $10 cheaper than a brand new HP with an AMD? You make no sense.

The Toshiba's had the same E-300, and the E1-1200 is also an AMD processor (and it's $70-$80 cheaper, not $10). Seriously, if you are going to post, be informed.

You might want to check your math. The difference between $298 and the $269 and $279 you quoted is not $60-70. it is $20-30 and as you said for scratched and dented laptops. And I did not post about the Toshiba's so I do not need to be informed on them. Nice try though. I did my research for my post, it is the lowest price HP with Windows 8 and an AMD processor out there. It was not meant to be a post for those wanting a powerful laptop, but rather a cheap one. Go troll somewhere else

Okay, first - the exact same specs are available NEW right now from best Buy for $279 or $289. I got this exact model for $138 open-box return last week, and at new it was $269, and a similar deal will come up in the next week or two without question.

Second, I said $225-230 for the scratched and dented E1-1200 Lenovo's (which is $70-80 less than 298 once you account for the disparity in tax costs). Why is getting a slightly faster machine for $60 less important than the possibility of a tiny blemish or dented box!?!? PLus Lenovo is a way better manufacturer than HP.

Who is the troll here? You, with the downvoted deal you are defending while twisting very direct posts out of order!?

You do realize that refurbed A6s and a8s were going or way cheaper than this just two weeks ago, right? Only post deals, not just "the best price among average to sub-average deals at a tiny snapshot moment in time".

AMD E-300
1.30GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory
320GB SATA hard drive

Nice price. Even if it's just 1.60 ghz at least it's 4gb memory. Just enough for my application needs.

i call bs on this. you can get a celeron g series laptop that will run circles around this performance wise. And you can get it for around the same price.

for instance

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Fe...s/23324592

there are a million laptops better than this POS and cheaper or same price.
