Tried the ranch one today. Decent. I'll avoid the chili one as some recommended. Might go back and try the bacon one later. It's not bad for $2. However, I wouldn't buy them if they were regular price.
I got the $4 chicken and bacon, grilled to keep it safe (sorry health nuts i couldnt resist the allure of bacon) and they drenched it in this sodium filled dressing they call ranch (or was it mayo)
It came with medium fries for free, as if they never heard of the $2 promotion.
It was big (for what youd expect from penny pinching McD's), but never again, only if its $2 and I can order it without that dressing. Without the fries its almost a ripoff. It was kinda tasty, but I hated the dressing they just put globs of in there.
The dressing adds negligible sodium according to the McD website. 90% of the sodium content is in the chicken and the tortilla.
Tonight I tried the grilled sweet chilli version. This time, another local McDonald's was honoring the promotion - but one per party. As you can see in the photo, at this particular location (very northern Detroit suburbs) they're regularly $4.39 -- or $6.49 bundled with a small fry & drink.
Inside, there were four small strips of chicken (equivalent to about half a chicken breast), a few pieces of veggies and lots of lettuce. I don't know if this is the typical composition or if they're being stingy because of the promotion. And while it was good... $4.39, really? According to various new articles, the whole point was to create premium value propositions that attracted my generation (Y, which is increasingly stubbing McD's). Try again, McDonald's. There are several fast-casual restaurants nearby me selling a similar, more premium product for about the same amount of money.
stopped by the McD in Costa Mesa, CA and they had the promo today until Apr 15. Tried both the ranch and sweet chili ones. I like the chili one since I like sweet more so than the ranch although the ranch was good since it had cucumbers and i like cucumbers also. Not bad for $2 apiece. Next time, have to try the bacon one. Combined with the $1 drink, you can have a decent meal for three bucks plus tax.
