I'm still surprised that people would take this over a Clip.

We've got 3 in our house. Each one is at least 2+ years. Never had one go bad. Never had headphone problems. Never had a clip break.

From a functionality standpoint it's not even close. The Clip just offers so much more. Throw in a screen and microSD and it's such a no-brainer. The Clips are our go to devices for hiking/exercising.

$40 is still too much to me. No bluetooth.
Bluetooth itself will be another problem for you since they aren't $40 or cheaper either..

Is this really a good deal? Wouldn't a Sandisk Clip (or zip) be a far better option in terms of sound quality? Not to mention that is has a screen, a microsd slot and is cheaper?
Yes, get a Sansa.

Its about Apple got modern with the size of their devices. I will NEVER purchase another one of their devices when a good alternative with expandalbe memory is available. Do not settle for the same size players as 10 friggin' years ago. A 16 gb flash memory card is like $15... Apple could give you the 16gb shuffle and charge you an extra $20.... but no.... Apple is run by a bunch of nazis who love to overly control everythign, limit consumer choice and force their crap down the consumers throat.. who willingly gobble it up.

And this is coming from an Iphone 4 user (which I got for free). I am a fan of the hardware (except for limited, unexpandable size) but have had enough with Apple. I am getting the Samsung S3 or S4 over the Iphone 5 when I upgrade and getting an andriod tablet instead of an Ipad (when I finally upgrade form my rooted Nook).

No, USB connector connects into the ear phone jack.

I don't use iTunes, so this is pointless for me. It wouldn't have to be that way if Apple let other software sync the latest iPods. Oh well.

From that link the slate color and all colors for that matter show $39. When I add the slate color to my cart it shows $44.99. What gives?

Agree, the clip is a far better deal. Regular price $30 at Best Buy for 4g, twice as many songs. With something this small, plastic vs aluminum doesn't really matter.

Are you the bozo with the big iphone or ipad working out?

Real people work out, they don't watch movies on their phones.

iPod Shuffle is perfect for working out, or running.
