My bill is going up from 39.99 to 59.99 soon. I called 3 times. The last guy stated that if there was a different promotion, they would be able to give me a promotion. They claim that since I am coming off of that promotion that I can't be put on the same promotion. Now, I am not sure that this would be the case after my bill does go back up to 59.99. I didn't ask him that...
Charter has the worst customer service. If telecommunication companies like Charter actually had to compete for customers, they'd be out of business years ago. They make it so hard to haggle for pricing they count on you giving up after a few times and just paying them the money.
Something that I finally extracted out of a retention rep that may help all of you:
Until your CURRENT promotion is up, they cannot offer you a new promotion. So even though your bill says your promotion expired, they are still not able to offer you a promotion until it ends.
Case in point: My current promotion ends on May 5th. Because my billing cycle is April 10 - May 9, I was charged extra on my current bill with my promotion expiring. The guy told me there were no promotions, and finally through asking him different questions in different ways, I found out that because my promotion actually ends on May 5th, they aren't able to input new promotions on my account while this promotion is still in the system. I went at the guy pretty hard, and while he couldn't "promise me a promotion will be available", he did say that he can't input promotions in while I am on a promotion and calling back the day after my promotion is up wouldn't be a bad idea.
So, if you are being told there are no promotions available, figure out when your promotion ends, not when they started billing you more. This is when you should contact Charter.
St. Louis was upgraded to 100mbps across the board - they offer nothing slower since they removed all analog signal and used the extra bandwidth for internet speeds. They're rebranding it as "Charter Spectrum". I don't think they offer any higher speeds here either: 100mbps or nothing.
really? so we don't even have the choice of 60mbps?
They fast talked me into the 100mbps @59.99 a few months back. (had 2 reps state that I would only be paying $51.)
With the crap service 100mbps is damm near pointless so i figured I'd see if they would drop me to the 60mbps at a cheaper rate.
