Too bad Utah doesn't sell alcohol outside of liquor stores. Stupid Mormons
CO has whacky liquor rules too. Only ONE store out of a chains bunch can sell liquor anywhere in the state. So, there's one King Soopers/Kroger in the state that sells liquor. The same goes for Costco. So there aren't Walgreens stores everywhere that sell liquor like they do in FL and other states. It's still better than NC where only state-run liquor stores are allowed to sell the stuff, and it is never on sale.
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
So if you drink it 500 years later, its no different? Interesting...
Scotch is distilled, there's no yeast in it unlike wine and beer. It ages in cask because it reacts with the wood to pick up flavor and color, a glass bottle doesn't react. As long as you don't sit that bottle in the sun, there is no chemical change to the scotch inside that makes it "age". If you take an 18-yr old vintage and store it for 500 year, then you take a another bottle of the same vintage and time travel it 500 year, they are still the same cause there was no chemical reaction in either bottle.
I got the $44 version a couple months ago. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed.
I concur... I was not impressed with the Kirkland 20yo.. Should have gone with the Oban14.. much better. The 18's and 20's that I've had are out of this world. The Kirkland 20 was not that good.. reminded me of the TraderJoes's brands
So, Kirkland Signature is now importing whisky from Scotland?
Maybe SDers will be reselling this for a 25% profit after aging it 2 years.
I know you're joking, but once you pull the liquor from the casks, it stops aging.
Edit: I see it's already been discussed. That's why you see liquors written as "Aged 18 years," and why you see wines have the vintage (date) printed on the bottle. Because otherwise, there could be a year or more between when the harvest is done and when the bottle is sold.
bought it over winter. both my local costco's have tons of it. so i tried it and well it was too flavorful and intense and this was a huge turn off for me. it burned my mouth and didn't get any enjoyable flavors this is because this item does not match my taste preferences. i was truthfully kind of sad because i wanted to be able to reassure myself to enjoy a drink that got such rave reviews on here for the price and quality.
Since I bought my mom a bottle of blue label my sister thought it would be fun/a nice Christmas gift to do a blind taste test of several different brands- ie j walk blue, black, red, cutty shark, bushmills 12, chivas, 12, and a few other i dont remember. went to bevmo and bought those little one serving airplane shot things.
my favorites were blue, chivas and bush (3rd). my tops were less smoky and sweeter/smooth and easier to put down imo (according to my notes).
i would recommend those to do a blind taste test as i am confident my drinking preferences were marketed influenced. ie ive told people i love black and that red is horrid. in the blind test black was one of my lowest rated and red got a better score.
when i first saw this deal on slick over dec; there were rave reviews and people were freaking out as stores were selling them super fast. go and try it. costco has an AMAZING return policy. bring it back and tell them u didnt like it. like MAGIC->credit back on the card.
