Agree with a lot of reviewers here that the 20 wasn't anything great. I think sticking to the brands gives me consistency in flavor. Kirkland is a bit of a crapshoot.

OP: my local Costco had these on shelf for $30; just thought people should know the price may fluctuate based on region.
I actually liked the 20yr they sold. It was smooth, almost no bite, and sweetness had a nice density to it.
Comparing to the 18yr, I find it has more bite, and sweetness is somewhat shortlived.

Still, for $30, I'll definitely buy again!

PS: The guy working the liquor shack says Costco may be striking a deal with the distributor soon, so they may be carrying quality Scotch more frequently. However, the offerings may still vary throughout the year(they may not always have 18yr scotch on the shelf)

Still, for a $45 bottle of 20y, it's good for what it is.

Mine quoted a $30 price as well. Will be picking up a few at that price. Thanks for the comparison! nod

Picked up a couple bottles yesterday. This is far and away the best scotch I've ever had (that's not saying much, I'm cheap).

Did the Costco at Christiana Mall get any ? I am assuming this week.

People loved 20yr during Christmas season and I picked up a few. For $30 it's a good stuffer for next season.

That's who I spoke to. Better save me one!! Smilie

I talked to the rep on Friday, who said it should be in on the 12th (Friday). When I told him it WAS the 12th, he laughed, and then told me it would then be next week earliest, and at $30. Please let me know if you find it, and vice versa!! PM me or something! nod

Same thing happened to me when 20yr was about to hit shelves during Christmas season. Had to call like 5 times for me to get an answer and they guys up there are pretty good. They usually confirm that they can see SKU in the system but inventory delivery dates are always later.

For $30 I could buy many to gift later this year. Also I did the same and stock up some 15yr Macallan Kirkland branded and 20yr Speyside Kirkland branded. Should be on shelves for atleast 2 weeks considering it's not holiday season or winter anymore.

CO has whacky liquor rules too. Only ONE store out of a chains bunch can sell liquor anywhere in the state. So, there's one King Soopers/Kroger in the state that sells liquor. The same goes for Costco. So there aren't Walgreens stores everywhere that sell liquor like they do in FL and other states. It's still better than NC where only state-run liquor stores are allowed to sell the stuff, and it is never on sale.
Any chance you happen to know which Coscto in CO sells liquor?

Anyone know of a list of Costco's that sell liquor? Might be able to pick some up on an upcoming roadtrip.

TIA

So if you drink it 500 years later, its no different? Interesting...
from what i understand is that the flavor comes from the barrel. wiskey starts off clear like vodka and develops its flavor from being inside certain wooden barrels. aging in a glass bottle defeats the purpose, although i guess you can still call it a 500 year old scotchRoll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Yep. The guy mentioned that he thought it might be a mistake, since it's usually only around Christmastime, and I told him that my "friend in Georgia" had picked up a bottle this past week, so he said to call on Monday and see if it's in yet. He did confirm the item number in there, and priced at $30. I'll give them a buzz over my lunch break, if you don't get a chance to.

Christiana Costco sells a lot of liquor, though.. I wouldn't wait on it!
