The bottler of these Kirkland Whisky is Alexander Murray, who also bottles for Trader Joe's brand whisky. Couple months ago I bought the Trader Joe's 18 year scotch and compared it with the Kirkland Sig 20 year and it was noticeably different. The 20 year is much darker and more flavorful whereas the 18 year falls flat and is a bit light for my taste. I'm hoping that this is not the same batch as used in the Trader Joe's because that's only around 27 bucks. If anybody has both of them and can share some notes that would be awesome.

Sadly Costco's in TX do not see Kirkland brand Frown

If I'm ever out of state I'll need to swing by a costco to get one of these.

Thanks for the heads up, picked up a couple of bottles. For what it's worth, I spoke with the liquor manager at the store, who told me they're hoping to stock it permanently, year round. Not intended to be the limited stock like the 20yr.
Too bad Utah doesn't sell alcohol outside of liquor stores. Stupid Mormons

I'm pretty much addicted to only buying Kirkland brand liquor(not beer) now.

Haven't tried this one yet but I have bought both of their vodka's, Margarita and spiced rum on a regular basis. I use them for mixed drinks with friends so the taste doesn't need to be pristine but the price/taste ratio on their brand is fricken amazing. There isn't that nasty bite that you get with plastic bottle cheap shiv from the convenience store.

Not a tequila fan but have wanted to give those a shot as well since it seems they have 2 different versions of that as well.

Thanks for the heads up, will be stopping by there this weekend to give this a try/buy just to have around the house in case of that one time one of my guests actually wants to have a mans drink instead of the fruity mixed crap or beer that I usually serve.(although I usually buy the good micro brews that we have here in WisconsinSmilie )

Agreed, I love the Costco brand liquors - with the exception of the Tequila like you said.

The Rum is better than Captain Morgan, better than Sailor Jerry (same Alcohol % too). Slight vanilla hints.

The vodka is awesome, especially the stuff in the frosted bottle. It's cheap and smooth.

I tried the 20 year old single malt scotch a while back and was impressed.

thx OP. does the label look like this: http://www.costcoconnection.com/c...pg=60#pg62

does it say Macallan Distillery on the label? (i doubt it...especially since the items #s are different)

Not Macallan, this is Speyside.

Do you mean the American vodka (some say is Tito's) that comes in the smaller cylinder shaped non-colored glass bottle? The French vodka (some say is Grey Goose, but it is only from same Cognac region and the use of wheat) comes in a clear taller square bottom bottle with red glass bottom.

I missed the 20 year sherry cask Speyside, but got the 18 yr Speyside at Trader Joe's. The 17 yr sherry cask Macallan from Costco was excellent.

Since, I got the 15 yr sherry cask Macallan from Costco, I bought the 18yr oak Speyside from Trader Joe's based on price.

Anyone compare this 18 year old sherry cask Speyside with either the 18 year oak cask Speyside from Trader Joe's or the 20 year old sherry cask Speyside from Costco?

I was really disappointed in the 16 year old Lagvulin from 2 years ago. It was too medicinal tasting. Was I supposed to let it breathe or something?

That Lagavulin "medicinal" taste is what is considered peaty. That's the way it's supposed to be. Lagavulin is from Islay, as opposed to the scotch from speyside.
I think you either love it or hate it, as I, too, think the Islay Scotch are all too peaty for my taste. It just comes down to a matter of preference.

Thanks for the info. My favorites are:
1) Kirkland Macallan sherry cask 17 year old
2) Johnny Walker Green Label
How does a Speyside compare to a Macallan?

So, Kirkland Signature is now importing whisky from Scotland? Confused

Maybe SDers will be reselling this for a 25% profit after aging it 2 years. LMAO
Scotch doesn't age once you take it out of the cask, it's not wine.
