what is the point of these tv if there is no content available and hdmi 1.4 only supports 30hz at the 4k resolution? Please give me a reason to buy the tv.
Ginormous computer monitor is all I can think of. It's the equivalent of quad 25" 1920x1080 computer monitors. It would definitely be a ridiculous ton of desktop space at native res.

Such a thing would be more useful at my work where I have many windows open and currently run quad monitors of odd sizes and resolutions (17"-20"). A single 50" monitor would certainly tidy up the appearance of my office.

30 Hz in games will be horrible. You generally want at least 40-50 fps (Hz) in most games, and true "smooth" play is really a steady 60 fps.
A lot of PS3 and Xbox 360 games run at 30 FPS.

And those that do generally look pretty horrible, IMO. I was talking about PC gaming. PS3 and Xbox aren't going to benefit from the higher resolution anyway. It's quite possible to drive those extra pixels with current PC hardware (though probably not cheap, if you want to max settings).

Wait, so since 24fps was the native frame rate for 1080p films are they still using 24hz for 4k?
