UPDATE:
Live again with new coupon code SLICKDEALY500

Lenovo had another price drop on the Y500 Laptop. Use the Barnes and Noble Gold affiliate website below and save $30 over the standard Lenovo website. You must log in or create an account for the affiliate pricing.

deal [lenovo.com]

Once logged in navigate to the Y500 page. Second selection should be for the IdeaPad Y500 Laptop - 59371972. You could choose a different configuration but this one is the best value. Direct link:

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrar...e=59371972

Current promotional pricing using IDEADOORBUSTER code is $869. Through the above link it will be $839. This includes the GeForece GT750M and the 16GB SSD drive which acts as a cache (OS is not saved on it).

Yesterday the price for this was $899 without the 16GB SSD. The last deal on this was $799 for the model with the GT650M graphics card. The GT750M is superior.

Full Specs:
  • 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor( 2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
  • Windows 8 64
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB
  • 8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz

Gah I just picked up the Alienware deal...this is much better. Dang it. That's what I get for only waiting 2 years...and not 2 years and just 1 more week.

Well technically I still have the budget for it...though I'd prefer more RAM (Window 8 is a HOG) and a blu-ray. Another snit...why all the HD laptops with no blu-ray? It's not like we can stream everywhere...is it a power/heat issue?

shows as lower than 650M in SLI.

Most likely the 750M is probably the equivalent of a 660M..maybe a tad higher clocks. IT'll definitely be slower than a 650M sli.

How is this gpu compared to the 670m?
GTX 670M > GT 750M

But I suspect by a very small margin...
GT 750M uses a new architecture and has more pipelines... to help offset some of the memory bandwidth differences.

Nice deal, would be in if sli 750s were an option for say $200 more.

i've ask the assistance, its 940 for the 12gb ram, because the y500 has only 2 ram slot and its 8gb ram + 4gb which make it expensive~
the sli was $1066 with no tax on newegg weeks ago, this model $839+ tax in ny would become $912. 140 difference for the sli but the deal was dead~
btw, lenovo.com also take 3 weeks to ship~ which make me hesitate

I agree that, at this moment, the 650 SLI is the safer bet. However, when an SLI upgrade is released for the 750 model, it's going to be a far better deal than the 650 SLI (not directed at the lucky ones that found S&D y500s on the outlet), especially if there's a doorbuster deal on the ultrabay. If I had to guess, a 750 SLI would rank in the top 25 for mobile graphics, while being a lot less expensive than its peers.

So no sure if anyone would find this useful, but I first jumped on this deal with my regular credit card, and the coupon code cut $510 off the price. Then I realized I could go through Shop Discover and save 5%, so I called and canceled my order and put it through again with my Discover card. Lo and behold, the coupon code only cut $480 off the price. So even though I got over $45 back with Shop Discover, I was charged $30 more to begin with. Oh well, $15 saved is $15 earned...

I have a feeling that happened because you went through Shop Discover, instead of using the Barnes and Noble Gold Affinity program. $510 off with the Affinity program + coupon, $480 with just the coupon... so makes sense.

Prices on similar units will plummet around that time because Haswell will be coming out around then. So you'll be weighing the age old dilemma, get this at a discount or buy the newest architecture for increased performance and energy savings. Confusedlaugh out loud

Slow Shipping is a killer I need instant gratification
I bought one a couple weeks ago and it arrived in 4 days. Shipped from North Carolina.

*****FYI***** If you're going to add a msata drive (or other ssd) save yourself some frustration and request the original OS discs. Will NOT work without them. I spent 2 days reading every forum I could find and it always came down to you have to have the Lenovo OS dvds. I made a 5 minute call (Wow) to Lenovo and they said no problemo. The discs arrived in 2 days, and a second set arrived a week later....

I think it's used as a cache drive.
