Lenovo had another price drop on the Y500 Laptop. Use the Barnes and Noble Gold affiliate website below and save $30 over the standard Lenovo website. You must log in or create an account for the affiliate pricing.

deal [lenovo.com]

Once logged in navigate to the Y500 page. Second selection should be for the IdeaPad Y500 Laptop - 59371972. You could choose a different configuration but this one is the best value. Direct link:

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrar...e=59371972

Current promotional pricing using IDEADOORBUSTER code is $869. Through the above link it will be $839. This includes the GeForece GT750M and the 16GB SSD drive which acts as a cache (OS is not saved on it).

Yesterday the price for this was $899 without the 16GB SSD. The last deal on this was $799 for the model with the GT650M graphics card. The GT750M is superior.

i've ask the assistance, its 940 for the 12gb ram, because the y500 has only 2 ram slot and its 8gb ram + 4gb which make it expensive~
the sli was $1066 with no tax on newegg weeks ago, this model $839+ tax in ny would become $912. 140 difference for the sli but the deal was dead~
btw, lenovo.com also take 3 weeks to ship~ which make me hesitate

Kinda, 1 week. My estimate was 3 weeks, but it shipped today, 12 days earlier than expected.

The dedicated graphics doesnt even work on battery power because it would drain so fast. I bring mine with me everywhere but plug it into power before I do just about anything.

Also I asked chat support about sli and using different cards said yes it will work

IE I have the 650 on way, I can put 750 in the ultra when it is released, or 750/650 or 650/650 or 750/750 they verified it would work and reassured me that they do not have to be matching for sli, may work a little better if they did match but yeah

Question, mine shipped out today but

I paid 950 for 16gb ram, and blu ray with msata.

This has 8gb ram, but its 12800 speed, the 16gb in one I ordered is 10600.
Which is going to be faster? I wish they offered blu ray with current versions. I want to have the ability to enjoy a good movie on the screen if I am on a plane ride or something.

It should work, just remember that it'll clock equal to the slowest card, so if you're doing 750/650, the clock of the 750 will be throttled down. So 750/750 for performance, or 650/650 for price.

What I don't get and hate about Lenovo is they put in Decent Wireless cards that support the 5ghz range, but disable that functionality. We have no many 2.4ghz networks around, it often gets crowded regardless of the channel you select. My systems on 5ghz do not get busy time congestion issues.

They even prevent you from replacing the wireless NIC with a Bios check.

Why? Why on Earth? Do they try to intentionally screw with customers like that?

Without a doubt even the 650 would suffice "light" gaming

It has a memory for most used:opened items stores them there for quick access
It learns from your behavior, if you use a program a ton, gets priority in the cached items

This is how I understand it anywy, could be wrong
