CURRENTLY OOS, BUT INVENTORY SHOULD ARRIVE ON 4/23. PRICE LIKELY TO REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL 4/30 (per advertisement email).

This price is almost identical to the Black Friday sale they had in November. I purchased the sub at that time with high expectations, and this sub exceeded them. At normal price, it seems to be the most highly regarded of the extremely budget subs at AVSForum, and this price is a $20-$30 savings off the regular price. Plus there is a coupon code for an additional $5 off.

There is a shipping upcharge of $15 even after getting "free" shipping on orders over $98 (applies to subtotal). However, even with the upcharge, the total should be about $110.

The math:
$100 price
- $5 coupon code (try SAVE52012 or PESAVE5)
+ $15 shipping upcharge (because the sub weighs almost 45 lbs)
=$110

Be aware the coupon code is entered at a weird spot. The box only seems to appear on the checkout screen where you pick your credit card, but do not enter the CC number. The box for the coupon is under the credit card options is the promo code box.

So you've heard this Dayton head to head against the JBL SUB150P? I would actually find it amazing for a generic 120w sub to outperform a quality brand 300w sub....but keep pimpin' it as hard as you can.Big Grin
Would you be amazed to know a 12" driver in a larger enclosure compared to a 10" in a smaller enclosure works out to a bigger performance advantage than 4db of added amplifier power?

I'm pimpin' the truf, yo..

Also: JBL, like most of the name brand consumer-class manufacturers, expresses wattage as a fantasy number, whereas Dayton bases their wattage on a real measurement.

Well I know the JBL SUB150P is very comparable with the Bic 12" subs I have and I'm sure those are far better than this Dayton sub. I'm not trying to say this Dayton sub is bad, just not in the same class.shake head

So, to summarize...

-If one spends more money, one can get a better sub.
-One better way to spend more money would be on a difficult (or impossible) to repeat open box deal instead of a widely available, cheaper deal on a brand new product.
-Someone who has clearly never heard this sub is 100% confident in his/her ability to pass judgement on its inferiority.
-The entire basis for that judgement is the power spec and the lack of brand name.

Did I misrepresent or miss anything? Smilie

I got an Earthquake FF12 for 250 shipped from a wholesale hookup I had-- obviously it costs more, but I hope I got a sub better than this deal? Can anyone chime in, since there's some good discussion going on here. I'm curious, since it was hard to find impressions on the FF12

If you feel this Dayton sub is comparable to a Bic F-12, then yes, this is a great deal at $110. I did get a great deal on the JBL for 120 and it's too bad others can't get in on the same deal. Sorry.

The JBL and Dayton are very similar especially at this price range. JBL is a little tighter for music while the Dayton did movies better with more output. Ended up returning both and going for a SVS sub instead.

OK, I was looking @ this last night and I resisted until this morning when I looked @ it again and had to pull the trigger (drat you SD). I just couldn't pass up a 12" sub @ that price and all the good comments. I'm also counting on my tax return to take some of the bite out of this purchase... if it gets here before I go broke shopping on SD. TU+R

If you're going for a budget build, I know that Newegg used to rotate sales of its Polk gear, and a pair of Monitor 40s would run you about $110-120. I haven't seen these lately though, and haven't been in the market in the past year or two, but it seemed like the best bang for the buck for me (paired with an BIC-F12, which I like very much, fwiw).

The Polk R150 pair I bought from newegg.com for $40 was an incredible deal. I don't believe they carry them anymore, however. Best Buy has the Polk T15's, which are comparable. They've had them on sale for $50 before, but it's been a few months. If you can catch them on sale they are well worth half a hundred.Wink

The website is still showing 4/23 as the date of new stock. Even better, is that I received an email today that would seem to indicate the price will remain in effect through 4/30, thus giving people another opportunity to order.

I updated the OP to reflect this.
