I find it funny that it's $10 more to get lower resolution and worse graphics... Shouldn't it be the other way around? Oh wait, why am I complaining? I'm going to save $10 lol. :-P
But honestly, I wouldn't preorder at this price. I preordered Batman: Arkham City before for $43 from Amazon. I know this is "technically" $40 after the gift card, but still... I think it'll probably show up on Gamefly or Greenmangaming for $35 sometime soon...
Console games will be more expensive as long as they have to give the console bossmen a slice. PC games are cheaper because it is a hell of a lot cheaper to create games for it, as they aren't paying huge licensing fees.
please do show me a ps3/xbox game pre-order that's ever touched that price range...
while i think a 10$GC really isn't great, 40$+10$ is just plane silly for a pre-order or new release for that matter. if you don't like the prices of new games, just wait a couple months... they'll drop.
I really don't understand why people pre-order games.
The last time i pre-ordered was Ocarina of Time for n64.
If you preorder from one store and then a different store has a better offer then you have to cancel your original. Then if another store beats the deal that beat the original then you have to cancel THAT order and get the better deal.
And THEN you have to deal with the fact that 1 week after your order ships some store will beat THAT deal, and so on and so on.
People COULD just save themselves some time and money and just WAIT.
So much hate on slickdeals nowadays lol. While I'd personally wait due to many good points about this game being brought up, others who buy games at launch anyway will still be getting a decent deal. New console games have always been $60 so getting a $10 isn't too bad. Rocksteady did an awesome job on the Arkham games, can't wait to see their silver age ones (on PC of course )
It's a deal because you're getting it on release date (or soon thereafter, because of shipping), while getting it below the advertized price. If that price is not good enough for you, that's okay. But what's hard to understand about some folks liking to play a title as soon as it comes out, plus getting a good deal on top of that? Not to mention, you help the developers more this way, and you help ensure more quality Batman games will be made. (Hopefully this is of the same standard as the other two, of course.) (And if it isn't, when the reviews come around, just cancel the pre-order.)
Btw, the handheld games are made by a new team consisting of some ex-Metroid Prime devs, and they're being made in the MetroidVania style of play, so those versions might turn out even sweeter than their big brothers'.
You're right, what was I thinking. $15 a year for $20 back on every game pre-ordered plus $100 a month in gaming coupons. That is a lousy deal.
let's not over exaggerate the promo.
it's a finite list of 13 games that fit into the 20$GC promo... and 7 of those titles have already been released...
the coupons in the magazine are hardly ever a "great" deal, similar prices can be found at places like Amazon/Newegg. sure there is the occasional coupon that will stack with a sale, but that's it.
there's hardly 100$ worth of true savings in each magazine. maybe if you're daft enough to purchase games at full price from BB, then sure it's a savings. but those prices, or better, can be found elsewhere.
the last time they did the promo, preorder 5 games and get 100$GC, it didn't require the stupid gamers club unlocked garbage. requiring you to pay to be in a club to participate in their sales is a horrible company practice.
Again you're completely clueless about this promo. Games are added to the list intermittently, so there's going to be a lot more than 7 available. The coupons in the magazines are stackable with sale prices, not just MSRP. People were buying Arkham City last year for $10 when everyone else was selling it for $30-$40 on sale. I've used $15 off coupons on games that were $20-$25 (same price as Amazon/NewEgg) and wound up paying $5-$10 each. Just one of those games paid for my $15 a year membership. Plus these offers are still valid after price matching a sale price. I paid $60 for Assassins Creed 3, received a $20 RZ coupon, and PM'ed 3 weeks later for another $20 back, making it $20 after discounts. You can and will not ever buy a new release game from Amazon or NewEgg and net that kind of savings.
I could care less if you think this program is worth it or not, but the fact is there are deals offered through this that you can not get elsewhere.
