haven't used Google Music before. I have a google mail account but was asked for credit card inf., etc. for thr free download, is that the way it is?
Yes, they want your credit card on file so you can make impulse purchases in the future. The credit card they have on file for me hasn't been valid in years, but that doesn't stop me from "purchasing" the free downloads.
I usually use depleted rebate debit cards when signing up for things like this...they have a valid cc number and expiration date, but there are no funds left in the account. Some vendors (not sure about Google) will pre-authorize $1 to verify the account is valid, so the rebate cards won't work unless there are still funds remaining.
