I have the other model, I like it alot, I ordered the adapters so I can use this as a portable user interface (keyboard/trackpad/speakers/LCD).
I hated the experiance using this from the atrix, I strongly suggest you don't buy it for this, supposedly android 4.0 doesn't require the ubuntu OS hack.
an amazing price for an HDMI monitor.
battery powered to boot! i bought 5 when these first started going on clearance and never regretted the decision.
one thing ive been playing with lately is using it with my chromebook, for a sort of mobile dual screen setup. they are nearly the exact same size, and with the special short cables i ordered, its almost like they were made for each other.
if you had a lapdock dedicated to this use it would definately be possible to power the reciever unit by the lapdock battery and velcro it to the lapdock and act as a wireless monitor for your hdmi inputs.
so this thing works with galaxy s3, just the keyboard and mouse doesn't work and need the MHL cable
Apparently it's possible to use this along with the Samsung All-Share hub[amazon.com] to get video and keyboard/mouse working simultaneously with capable Samsung phones. (Video is transmitted via All-Share, so still leaves the option to do USB OTG for the keyboard touchpad)
Source[google.com] (translated from German) ... a bit of a hackery of a solution, but kinda neat.
This solution would most likely work on the upcoming S4 as well, and the idea of being able to use it as a spare display for my current laptop is nice... thinking about biting on this.

I just got mine delivered. I'm waiting for HDMI adapter/converter cables to come in. I've been reading conflicting forum and blog posts about whether the "100" will work. The old Atrix dock was a dummy device and worked with any thing but this may not be the case with the 100 and 500.
I had a lapdock for my Droid Bionic. I used it for maybe 3 hrs and it crapped out. I sent it to Motorola for repair and I sent all the required information (invoice and such) and they denied the repair. They would never tell me why. The device was always put in the original shipping box when not in use. The keyboard and the mouse would not work at all. My son and friend have Droid Bionics also and it would not work on either of theirs either. Just giving a heads up.
Also this same device here for the Atrix 2 is on clearance at my local RadioShack is only $19.99
did you get it from that dailysteals.com deal?
That might be why they sell stuff that mfg doesn't honor because of where they get their stuff
My days as a sales person @ bestbuy
Customer: This stupid phone I bought last week won't work right
Me: So it's the phone thats stupid and not you right?
Customer: I'm looking for an easy way to access my media files with my laptop when I'm in the yard.
Me: Sports Authority is having a sale on walking shoes.
This thing is a little underwhelming. I'm honestly surprised they tried to sell these things at $200+ when it was first released. $50 is a pretty decent price for it though. I was hoping to use my Droid 3 with this, but without the webtop options the trackpad is so incredibly slow that it's near worthless. With my Razr it's actually not bad.
I placed an order with the link above. Got order screen but no confirmation email.
Anyone got this succesfully?
I got it. I originally ordered 4 but they cancelled that order. So I reordered just 1 and it arrived fairly quickly. Haven't had a chance to use it. I'm planning on using it as an external monitor with a laptop for school. Should suit me well for programming. But school isn't going to start for me for another 4 months or so so no point in me getting a laptop now.
Called to inquired about my order. The guy who answer dont have a clue and cancelled my order. I asked him to reorder it for me and his answer was: I am not responsible to place orders" transferred me to some morrom who also have no clue and said the item does not show in my syste.... bla bla bla.
At&T and their prefect customer service.....horrible.
It blows real donkey that the nice ubuntu setup that came on these to begin with got the Axe on the very next android update. It used to be a pretty cool little device, and for the price it was worth the money. You could accept calls and text while surfing all on the same screen. Now all it does is do a very poor job of mirroring your phone, no right click, and just plain junk all around. I would not suggest buying one.
Has anyone with one of these found a way to downgrade to a lower version of "webtop" that would bring back the ubuntu experience?
