I've never had to. As long as you use the same name / address you should just see the exp. date on the mailing label change by a year. If you start getting 2 copies then yes, you would call their subscriber services and merge the subs.
Super and where do we find that number? What if we forget to do it and a few months have elapsed?

Subscriber service info. is usually in the front of the mag. on one of the contents/leader pages. Hard to miss two issues of the same mag. in your mailbox but if you do somehow I would just ask them nicely if they could just extend your oldest current sub. by one year instead of the months remaining on the duplicate sub.

One time I had a sub. start and they sent me 4 months at once, all old issues and one that was "current" but I had actually gotten the next month the previous day. The sub. expiry on the label showed that it was to run out in 8 months. I called and said I really didn't appreciate having old issues dumped on me and they were very nice about extending the sub. out another 4 or 5 months.

To add to the excellent info given by Redrotors, there's a sticky thread with 1-800 numbers for many mags right here in free mags sub forum - http://slickdeals.net/f/3403898-List-of-800-numbers-for-Magazines-Customer-Service?v=1

You can always call them and within 5 minutes, find out what's what - they're super helpful and you never have to wait on hold very long, if at all. If you feel you missed a issue, they're more than happy to extend your sub - they want to keep you as a subscriber - more than ever these days!

To access customer services online - just go to the mag website and look for a link for customer services.
You can also google ' 'mag-name' magazine customer services ' to find the webpage - example - google 'Better homes and gardens magazine customer services' and it's the first link.

Question re: WSJ subs. Do you guys get tip requests from the delivery person? I assume I am going to get an envelope requesting a tip every few months, the same as I do with my local paper. Is this correct? What is a fair tip to leave?

Don't know...depends on your delivery person. We get WSJ and our local paper and don't get a tip envelope from either of our delivery people.

A fair tip just depends on what you think - there is no right or wrong answer - some folks don't tip at all, some might give a flat amt per year like $10, some folks tip depending on if they have special requests to the delivery person (like putting the paper in a certain place etc)

I didn't know newspaper delivery people were even allowed to do that. Of course it's been years since we had the newspaper delivered here.
