Have owned two of these. Very good design - foot lockers are a great idea. Easy set up and take down (5 minutes or less), good in rain as long as you don't touch the sides in a rain storm!. It's a 1-2 adult tent, 3 people would be one adult and two small children. After three years and lots of (boy scout) camping the tent is holding up well - one pole has vertical cracks in the fiberglass pole fixed with duct tape and some of the stakes are bent.

I would give it a 5/5 star IF you are looking for a $50 or less 1-2 person tent.

How heavy is this tent? Is it decent for backpacking? The price is great.

7 lbs. We've taken it on overnight hike in/ hike outs. It's a fairly compact package. Soooo 1-2 night hike, yes, good. 3 weeks in the rockies, you really need to spend the extra $ for a 3 lb tent.

If you are camping, you need to get used to sleeping on the bare ground. Why not take a portable A/C with you along with some Bon Bonslaugh out loud

Thank you, Lord of the Outdoors... We all didn't marry women who love to camp.

yes.
btw, if you care camping in colder weather, most campers will take a sleeping pad or some type of air mattress or foam insulating pad or you will find that the cold earth sucks the warmth out of your body from the ground.

If you are backpacking lighter is better, but if cannot sleep at night, then you are probably too light and miserable.

I have an air mattress from Big Agnes that has insulation built into it and is reasonably light.

Most people camp for recreation not survival.

Ha! Amen, I am one of those women. When I was young, I handled it ok. But getting to the age of 55, even an air mattress and portable a/c wouldn't be enough for me. It's RV time!!!!!

Great price, thanks for the heads up.

But I don't know about the colors, why the 3-tone paint job?

Tents oughta try to blend in, not stand out like an 80s K-car.

Thinner one, you loose surface area rapidly as you increase hight. A standard cot does not fit in this tent, but I think the half hight cot sold at kmart would work.

Here's the review I did on the tent a few years ago - looks like I've actually had these tents for 8 years! Time flies!

From 9/2010

My second of these in five years - very happy camper.

For $25-35 this tent is an outstanding deal, and my rating is based on value per $... are there better tents? Sure- but they don't come close in price.

So I've used this tent and the previous design (there have been a handful of modifications from my 5 year old tent - all good) on many camp outs with my 2 boys and for a $25 tent it has preformed like a champ. Unfortunately my kids are growing quickly and it has become to cramped for the three of us, so I'm looking at an upgrade. So here's my thoughts after five years of use....

The good -

set up / take down - I can put this up in five minutes with my eyes closed. Two poles, not much fabric to snag on...S I M P L E. Add another 3-5 minutes to hammer in the six stakes. Take down / repacking is a breeze. Hint: make sure you fold the tent back along the creases already in the floor and use your poles to role the tent around. It fits back in the bag with room to spare.

Storage - there's lots of storage - the two 'lockers' a mesh pocket, a mesh 'attic'.

Price: $25-35 ...for a nice dome tent ...Amazing!

The not so good -

3 man tent? 1 man and 2 small kids is tight. 3 small adults in mummy bags... maybe. You can't put three adults in the way they show you on the box, two people would have to fold up their legs to fit that way.

Don't touch the sides - If you touch the sides when it rains you will get wet. You can't put three in this tent without pushing up against the sides.

It's 8 X 6 , not 8 x 7.5. the extra 1.5 is the length of the shoe lockers, this is not usable space for sleeping.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
